Ali was very intelligent! I agree that he's a bit mouthy, but that is his personality! Most WHITES hated him for this, but Ali was sincere & bold with his statements/facts! Dude eveb Ali admitted that was wrong and he went to far when he said that. Joe supported Ali when he was banned from boxing and Ali started rediculing him to promote the fight between them. Joe was a proud but private man. No fucking uncle Tom
@waynej2608
@waynej2608 5 жыл бұрын
@@easygrin1127 Agree. I admire both men, but, even though Ali was really just promoting the fight, I think he went, perhaps a bit too far with Frazier. I don't mind him doing this with Liston or Foreman, as both were unlikable thuggish types. Foreman, would later evolve and do a 180 in the disposition dept, but in the 70s he was a sullen jerk. But Joe Frazier was a good guy, a fighter with enormous heart and a gentleman. He was no match for Ali, in terms of wit, but they were both ring warriors and their three bouts together, were classics, esp the last one. Glad they reconciled at the end.

@@waynej2608 yes if they had fought a 100 times it would have been close each time... In their first fight Ali said to Joe somewhere in the final rounds: Joe i hit you over 90 times you gotta go down ... you must be crazy ..to which Joe replied:Thats right! Im Crazy!!! And in their third fight he said in the early rounds...:They told me you was all dried up Joe.. They told me you were finished..: Joe said:They lied...

SteveO Rules Ali was well aware of his popularity. He spoke about it often enough lol. He was just as entertaining outside of the ring as he was in it. For those that were not born in this era, Ali was said to be the most well know man on the face of the earth. Remember no internet. No google. His fights were events. I can't think of any other athlete who has had such an impact as Ali did. He was a champions' champion.

Great compliments Christopher about Ali. Most or perhaps all BLACK athletes are/were scared to tell the TRUTH of BLACK struggles, esp when they're making millions! They're scared they'll lose everything. Can't blame athletes today though, because if they did speak truthfully, they'll lose everything. That's another reason why Ali is in a class of his own! There was NEVER another athlete to speak out on LIFE'S STRUGGLES like Ali. He said that MOST wouldn't, but wanted to. "YOU CAN'T TAKE NOTHING FROM ME I AIN'T HAD". You gotta love how Ali handled WHITE AMERICA,.esp in those days!!

LeBron James and Colin Kilpatrick come to mind. You definitely can't paint them with the same brush as all the other athletes... but I agree with you. Athletes today in general are a joke compared to Ali. To be honest... comparing anyone to Ali will be considered a joke. All we can do is learn from him and make sure we stand up to oppression and not leave it in the hands of others. Peace.

What an incredible difference between listening to the profane, money waving, gold draped lowbrows posing as greatness over the last few decades.No one has ever had Muhammad Ali's charisma. Joe Frazier did not get the credit he deserved for his intelligence. He understood very well about promotion and marketing. Few understood how good of friends Joe and Ali came to be. This kind of character and respect is sorely lacking in sports period. Let alone boxing. Boxing could be the headline sport it ONCE was. We just don't have any headliners. But then again. I played and loved sports, but rarely watched boxing because seemed boring. two guys beating each other up. when Ali came around and he stirred up a lot of feelings in people exposing a lot of racism. also, I remember racist people wanting to see someone beat / shut that "N" up. those behaviours and reactions hooked me in with Ali, to be entertained by him. i have always supported his method, his style, his truths, his opposition to a useless war. he talked that way to his opponents , to bring in large crowds.he was a showman!! . joe frazier loved Ali. I seen joe get teary eyed talking about Ali s parkingsons disease. I seen him sitting with joe after they retired, as friends. all the fighters who fought him, should appreciate the big money purse he brought to their fights. the big names like joe frazier , George forman , larry holmes, etc, give their gratitude to Ali. Ali was a good human.

@8:07 Ali realises that once again Cavett is trying to belittle them without their knowledge like he's smarter... "If you keep bashing it I'm gonna tell them whats going on". Funny how Cavett stops pretty quick after that. Cavett felt really little after they both grabbed him like a fn kid. What Ali meant is: They have to belittle the black figures as much as they can even tho they are the athletes and the achievers present. They want to cause black on black violence and look at they laugh thinking as them as 2nd class citizen. The WHOLE interview you can see Frazier trusts Ali as a brother. They are just playing a game but Cavett is REALLY TRYING to get them to fight at all costs. Not just for publicity but to destroy them both.

They were, especially that Oreo comment by the main interviewer, who had the nerve to harp on Ali about mentioning color. I stand with Ali. You simply couldn't put anything past the white folks from that era. American society was still VERY racist at that time, and thankfully, Muhammad Ali vocalized it EVERY CHANGE HE HAD! Much respect to the brother. He was not afraid and knew his worth!

Interesting take by Ali on the perceived immorality of boxing. The BMA in England say it should be banned because the intention is to concussed your opponent. Ali here suggests it's racial or class-determined: when champions at HW were 'white', it was alright. When 'blacks' start making millions of dollars all of a sudden it's dangerous. Reminds me of all this climate - change crap. Another example of Caucasians benefitting while the non-European world pays the price. In the last three centuries you had the industrial revolution in England and the European invasion of what they hadn't already conquered in the world. They built their wealth on stolen peoples and raw materials. Heavy industry was the order of the day. It's they, the 'white' people who were responsible for any 'global warming.' Over 100 years ago (after the wealth is made, note) two Scandinavians came up with this whole concept, which gained traction until the Kyoto Accord. Asian, and particularly African countries, we're developing rapidly to raise their peoples' standards of living and using fossil fuels to do it. What else? Britain and America eg. did the same. These countries, probably under pressure from nations they'd taken high - interest loans from, meekly signed. The USA still hasn't. So the places that need it restrict their use of fuel at this crucial moment. Civil wars or mass starvation, economic underdevelopment is somewhere at the root. Western charities are in your face begging for this and that, hidden behind their guilt trip adverts. Cause and effect.
