Can you believe that 2 weeks ago I found a beautiful Alocasia odora variegata and the seller had no clue it was a rare plant? She was just selling it as a Caladium. Well, it's beautiful in my balcony now, and I JUST found out she's putting off a new leaf. Yeah!
@IAmMomhousekeeperinhartfordct3 жыл бұрын
Yes many plant sellers are not professional sellers they just get hired and train, they are in it for the money and not plant dedication or love, that is why they overwater plants. Smart!!!!!! Wish you and your plant baby the best, you were so lucky!!!!!

I LOVE what you’re doing with this “rare index” series. I watched the video and got all excited and then I watched it again and paused at many of the plants so I could try to find them. The graphic leaves with contrasting veins drive me crazy (in a good way). I’ve got to get them some how some way! Please make the videos as long as necessary because I am drinking them in. Stunning and actually easy plant, she forgives me some neglecting with no hard feelings.

Any advice on keeping it happy?
@emmywang3463 жыл бұрын
@@blehmeh2566 no direct sunlight. Not near heater or draft. Keep temp of your room at 69-75F. Have a moisture thermometer that always reads level 2-3. When watering, make sure the water drains well. Let the plant become severely root bound before reporting. When repotting, don’t repot in a drastically bigger pot. Also, soil. Soil for a frydeck is super important. One part coco coir, dash of worm castings, dash of bonsai pebbles. And humidity! Have your humidifier close by, but not on top of your frydeck. Take my advice seriously, because I have 6 different Alocasias and they are thriving.

From a very experienced/reputable exotic plant seller: Cuprea will be more red/stay red longer when the humidity is constantly above 80% or even higher. A very high humidity is not a must for its survival/well being, but is the key factor for maintaining the red color.
