Sadly, it took her death for the world to fully appreciate her. “If you give me some of you, I’ll give you all of me,” Whitney opening for Luther Vandross at his Houston Tx concert in 1985. The woman gave us all of her. The eternal voice.

Man what you say, I mean I hate when people try to say Mariah has the best transitions they are crazy! This hooka was the VOICE because she mastered melisma, runs, legato, pianisimo, fortisimo, vibrato! She had better runs than a pair of pantyhose and they always fit and were never random. I had heard confident singers but Whitney was the most confident singer that ever graced a mic. She turned the boring ass Star Spangled Banner into a CD and sold 2 million CD off the rip that's talent.

Just amazes me that this huge, powerful voice came out of such a petite person. Whitney's voice still remains the standard by which *EVERY* singer tries to reach. Her vocal inflections, interpretation, diction, power, control, vibrato, timbre & the cherry on top was her tone...Rich, velvety, smooth, honey-like tone that blanketed her voice from top to bottom. *Whitney 'The Vocal Tsunami' Houston*

I have to agree w/Brian. I was LUCKY enuf to see this woman in concert 12 times; from her GLOA tour up thru 4 dates of the MLIYL tour. To hear her voice in person...there are just no words. I'm sooooo thankful we have YT and these gems to remember her by, but my God...if you've never heard her in person, sad to say, you really haven't "heard" her. I've never been a religious person, nor do I believe in a Christian "god", but I would imagine if there is a God somewhere, he/she had a divine hand in this woman's voice.

Whitney and all the other hurt souls rest easy, GOD has your back and the pain will cease, love to the world and those in it.
