Looks like they're a little hungry @ 4:52. LOL! Definitely an interesting betta species and rare to find. And, I guess they can get along in the same tank, unlike, Betta splendens, or Siamese Fighting fish variety?
@SimplyBetta7 жыл бұрын
Hey there! Wilds tend to be more accepting of living in a pair or group. Makes since, since domestics were originally bred to fight and be super aggressive!

Back in 2009, I had the pleasure of helping to auctioneer at an IBC Convention in Texas. It was the first time wild bettas, in addition to the splendens variants, were being judged and sold. I had the pleasure of auctioning a pair of Macrostoma and they are as beautiful as what I had seen in pictures. It was a great experience and hope you get to attend on in the foreseeable future.

B. channoides and B. macrostoma are tied for number one betta in my heart. I haven't looked into the practically of it but in the future I'd like to setup a Borneo blackwater setup with B. channoides, a school of Mosquito Rasbora, some Kuhli Loaches, and like six Vaillant's Chocolate Gouramis. Perhaps even one of the Licorice gourami species like Parosphromenus ornaticauda.

Simply Betta I think they have a kind of loach like idea about them because of the body length, can't wait to see them produce are they really that orange red color?
@AquaApprentice7 жыл бұрын
Those are stunning. I would be so stressed with a fish that I spent a lot of money on. Just worried that water quality is spot on and I dont stress it, so hope all is going well with them.
@SimplyBetta7 жыл бұрын
It is going very well! I had them in a temp tank for a long time as I made sure my new planted tank was totally cycled. I'm using ADA substrate to make sure the water is acidic for them and it is going well. If I want to breed them I may have to use a temp breeding tank though to really crank the PH down

Just so you know. My wife is going to Walmart this week to get my ten gallon aquariums she ordered for me. I think there is six of them. And she ordered a pie shelf from amazon to put them on. Or something like that. Lol. It’s a big surprise for me. But anyway. I’ll put dividers in them and move all my betas into them. I am moving to all wild betta and I am looking into the beautiful minnows of Alabama. They are among the most colorful fish in North America and found in my home state. Any advice on the new tank setup ? Thanks again. Mark
@TheStudnut7 жыл бұрын
since they are wild bettas, are you able to keep male and female together permanently?
@markjoshuaoliver45277 жыл бұрын
Hey Simply Betta i plan to make a planted tank with a betta and i am considering adding Neon Tetras and Zebra Danio's and maybe a clownloach or two for the un-eaten food. Is this a good plan ? or no ? i need some help.
@SimplyBetta7 жыл бұрын
Hmmmm, I'm not sure. If betta tankmates are not a know nippy fish (like fin nipping) if might be fine. Longfin bettas are slow and very easy targets. I don't think clown loaches are a good tank mate, maybe a little peaceful loach like a kuhli loach though!

@TurboFish7 жыл бұрын
I see mixed opinions; is it still necessary to separate the pair once the fry are fertilized?
@SimplyBetta7 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure either. If I notice the male holding eggs, I will leave female in until the fry are free-swimming. Catching her may disturb the male and he would swallow. Maybe.

Simply Betta ohh I wasn’t sure if I could or not. Didn’t want to upset him if I was to keep him on his own. I have several regular domestic bettas that I enjoy but the colours and different forms of wilds are what are attracting me to them at the moment 😊
