Everyone here knows that Bowie is dead, so it’s not new information; he’s been dead for a few years now. But this video was made well before he died, and a quick Google search proves the OP to be correct, while the aptly named Retard Jinkr is wrong.

In an interview, this is what Chris had to say about Bowie: "Bowie described my song as the most poignant version of the song ever done, which just floored me. I think, for him, he knew he was ill - it was getting to the end of his life. He wrote that song at the beginning, when he was still 19 or 20, before we had even walked on the moon. He had always fantasied about flying in space - Starman, and Mars, and all that other stuff, and I think for him it was just like a gift, to have that song updated with the lyrics, performed actually in space, just a couple of years before he was taken. To me that might be the best part: that he got delight out of my particular version of the song."

There was a great quote I heard today. I wish I knew the source, because it's awesome - *"If you're ever sad, just remember the world is 4.543 billion years old and you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie."* (EDIT: Credit properly attributed now - it was a tweet by Dean Podestá - see link posted below from PZF. Thanks buddy!)

Chris Hadfield. Whether you know it or not, whether you feel worthy of it or not, you are an inspiration. There will be future generations of astronauts, astrobiologists, astrophysicists, aerospace engineers, mathematicians, and so, so many more, all inspired the work you and your fellows have achieved. When you lifted off from Earth, you were not merely an inspiration to your hometown, your country, not even your continent, but to the whole world.

as a diabetic i know id never be able to travel the stars.... but god damn i could give EVERYTHING UP to have the ability to go to outer space, id do it in a heartbeat. if it meant i might die, sign me up to be able to look into the stars as my last dying glimps would be worth while... to be able to look into space and have that be the last thing i see. would be story worthhy.
