Maxxarcade makes me wonder if her family is rich. Even her childhood home was immensely large when we finally got to see her parents in "Parental Glidance". Also note that the flight school she went to looked pretty fancy so her parents might've spent a large amount of bits to let her get enrolled. Yea, it still surprises me every time when we see her house and it looks like a medium sized mansion.

This episode actually had points where Rarity and Rainbow were in the same shot together, but I went with a solo shot instead just because I could not resist that. 1. Polsky does like to throw in the Spike abuse. So do most of the writers though, it seems. 3. It is curious. Possibly so. I mean, this is Rapp's first episode, so it wasn't that long ago where he could have been looking at fanmade stuff without worry. 4. I really am glad they did save it for last. 5. And everywhere there was rejoicing. 6. Not sure I'd personally ship it. It was funny though. 8. At least them not saying it allows us to imagine it's something particularly obscene if we so choose. It should, but judging by a lot of comments, a lot of people still aren't too keen on it.

+Narrator007 Can't say it did anything like that for me. Harassing a person constantly doesn't become ok just because you were harassed too. It just means it's institutionalized. Sadly I can't see anything good coming from the Wonderbolts anymore. They've been antagonists in basically every episode since Wonderbolt Academy and they weren't really shown in the best light prior to that anyway. Honestly this episode just made me mad at the end, that the writers just have Dash accept the abuse as "Hey we all had it too" and then fade out on some heroic/dream shot with a group that are basically villains in my eyes (not just for this episode, but also for Rainbow Falls and so on). TLDR, not happy.

I was in the army. This so reminds me of my first duty station and what can happen. Trust me, nicknames like that are common and it's not to be hateful, but a term of endearment in its own odd way. It just means she was accepted as a part of the team by the others and she took in the wrong way. This was good, very good.

I love how this episode answers the question as to why Rainbow Dash hasn't been a Wonderbolt yet, despite being perhaps the best flyer in Equestria and saving the world several times. It was a simple matter of positions available. They can't be expected to kick someone else off the team just to make room for her. I mean, they almost did that once (in Rainbow Falls) and she herself put a stop to that, once she realised.

Yeah, as someone who was in an athletic team in college, I immediately knew what was going on one I saw them casually calling her "crash." It was pretty clear to me then that giving people embarassing nicknames was just a thing they did. I felt pretty bad for rainbow dash that she was taking it so personally, though. I mean, there's nothing inherently jerkish about jokingly giving someone a demeaning nickname due to something they did, espcially if it's done to everyone. It's a cultral thing, really. In some groups, like teams or even some entire cultures, its completely normal and accepted to just give people shit for stuff they've done, never letting them live it down. In those groups, literally no one takes it personally and it doesn't hurt anyone, and usually keeps people from getting too arrogant/serious about themselves. Although, I think anyone who has been hazed before knows that team rituals can get extreme and fucked up, but demeaning nicknames and a lax attitude towards one's screw-ups and embarrassment I think is ultimately healthy psychologically for serious, competitive people. Would have been nice maybe if they made a bit more of an effort to show RD that this was just the way they talked to each other, but she learned over the course of a couple of days, so it's not so bad overall.

This was a pretty good episode. Not great, but good. My only real problem is how Rainbow is made a Wonderbolt before the theme has even played. It seems like it should be more of a momentous occasion. The Wonderbolts themselves were portrayed really well. They're like any other official club or organization - tough on newbies, but still supportive of each other. I have mixed feelings about Rainbow herself in this episode. On the one hoof, she has always had a tough time moving past her "awesome" image and admitting her feelings. It's why moments like the one with her friends at her house (or comforting Scootaloo in Sleepless in Ponyville) are so strong, because it's a rare glimpse at the emotional pony under that shell. So it makes sense that she'd go to great lengths to show the Wonderbolts that she's something special, rather than admitting that she doesn't like the Rainbow Crash nickname. On the other hoof, don't ponies have military stories? A pony as obsessed with the Wonderbolts as Dash, I figured she'd know all about the tradition of giving out rough nicknames to new squad members. It's such a common trope after all. I get that it's a callback to her childhood, and that the name hits her harder than usual, but it still feels like an out-of-character moment for her to not acknowledge that. I can look past that though. This episode had a lot of funny moments, and strong support from the other Mane cast. Plus more Wonderbolts is always a good thing! I've missed you Spitfire!

+John Smith Mostly I cringe when I know people are going to do something stupid/embarrassing well in advance (like Dash was doing with most of the impersonations). As for the "hazing", it's not that people don't "get it." I know what hazing the new people is like, I just don't find it funny nor endearing. It's people taking comfort that the next person in line got to feel as bad as they did (or worse). "At least I'm not the only one to suffer." or "Now I get to be on the giving end."

Before watching the video, I have to say that this episode was just fun nonsense to me. A good time all around. But I can also say that I saw the purpose to it all. I figured out what the realization or lesson would be about the nicknames thing when Soarin first mentioned his so I guess that counts as this being a predictable episode but I was having too much fun with Rainbow's attempt to break aways from the "reputation" she had gained in the Wonderbolts to really knock it down for that. That being said, this episode is a prime example of why I'm enjoying this season so far. Its being quick to set things up for future endeavors but its also getting some of the more talked about things outta the way. For instance, we all knew the cmc's would have to be repurposed from their original crusading ways but we weren't exactly sure how(how exactly they'd help ponies with mark problems). Thanks to On Your Marks we do now. RD is now a Wonderbolt but in reality I don't think many of us would've been naive enough to belive that it would've been all sunshine and rainbows after Dash's dream was realized. This episode got all the inital problems that we'd all most likely would have assumed RD would have from joining the Wonderbolts out of the way and I'm glad for it. Now there's no need to wonder or wait for any more episodes involving how she would fit in as it was all packed into one episode as opposed to having her become a wonderbolt at the end of one episode and then showing the problems of it later on in another. I'm sure people that dislike Rainbow and even some that just like her will have their issues with this episode as a whole but quite frankly this was a good idea to do. I still enjoyed it for what it was and I greatly appreciate that it opens up more doors for Dash and I hope some others do to

I think what people should take away from this isn't the name calling itself, but the motivation behind it. When Rainbow Dash was called "crash" as a filly, it was purely out of malice. The Wonderbolts were never malicious when they called her that. To them it was just a nickname. So the next time some one calls you a name, ask yourself are they doing it to hurt you, or are they doing it to have a little fun with you?

[Possible Spoilers ahead for this week's episode, do NOT read this comment if you have not seen the MLP episode "Newbie Dash" you have been warned] Rainbow Dash is one of my least favourite ponies.... but this has got to be one of my favourite MLP episode ever! It was adorable, it was funny and it had a great story! (one I have been waiting to see for a while now XD) My favourite scene from this episode has to be when Rainbow imitates Rarity as I almost instantly made it my Twitter profile picture XD I should also say that another episode I love is Rarity Investigates, another Rainbow episode XD [If you are curious my favourite ponies are Rarity and Twilight] Anyway, I absolutely loved your reaction! and I can't wait for your review! I find pretty good the episode, I mean it was just like when someone joins to a Military Academy, I think is totally normal that the members want to low you encourage and..began to tease you a little bit, (Rainbow Crash), I thought on that all the episode. I know this is MLP, but that doesn't quit that ponies have personalities XD. Unlike 'Crusaders of the Lost Mark', I think not everything have to be sweetness and honey, I think this is a cool lesson for the kids, "if you're joining to a Militar Academy, take care in your first day" .. And now 'Rainbow Crash' is cool :D. I know this is not best episode but I find enjoyable still. Great reaction anyway!!
