@@Sebastian1417x I've seen some lists lately that are kinda bull these days, in case you are talking about that, but that is just combo that technically kills by burning cards instead of burning health. What I had in mind was old school fatigue and mill that goes the distance and works as a toolbox deck, navigating enemy strategies with different counterplay options and carefully pacing out tempo and value. It is a long strategic battle to the cuffs and by far the best Hearthstone I've played because it has so much room for creativity. like using corrupted firework elemental on your own minions for the heal with jaina or knowing when to brann coldlight and zola to prep the mill or holding research projects in opening hand against priest only late at night, cause thats when the older control players play xd.

The funny part about Muck Pools and GrappLr's reaction to it is that Runeterra actually has a 1 mana spell called Concurrent Timelines that, in simplified terms, basically reads "from now on, turn every first unit you play in a turn into another one with the same cost" - which is a bit gimmicky, but saw some cool meta decks that used a lot of terribly stated units with strong on-play effects (battlecries). The obvious weqkness of that deck archetype, of course, is having to hard mulligan for Concurrent Timelines, and doing pretty bad if you don't draw into it :P edit: just to clarify, you also get to actually manually choose what unit to turn it into out of one of 3 options!

Healing has always worked like that. IF in the same effect you go under 0 but heal back above it you do not die.
@paytonyoder12602 жыл бұрын
But any other interaction that would involve your health reaching 0 is cut off. Like if Rokara hits a big minion with her 5/2 weapon, if she reaches 0 life from the attack then the effect of the weapon doesn’t activate. Which seems strange when you can get bombed to 0 then draw a soul stone. It cuts other interactions short but will continue interactions after you die if it heals you.
@BigFatCock02 жыл бұрын
@@paytonyoder1260 Because Rokara's weapon says "AFTER you attack a minion". Lifesteal works like "when" effects. Same reason Ogremancer will still summon a 2/2 if the spell kills it but Trogg won't summon another Trogg if it dies from the spell.
@paytonyoder12602 жыл бұрын
@@BigFatCock0 Ogremancer summons a 2/2 before the spell activates. I know that because it’s summoned 2/2 units that die to the AoE spell. That wouldn’t change how the interaction works though, because you have to take the damage before you heal. So, if you attack with a lifesteal weapon you get hurt first, then you heal. Which would function like Rokara’s weapon. So, taking damage to go to 0 health in quest line would track along the lines of taking the damage first, then the quest procs, then you heal afterwards. It all seems like a fluid interaction but you heal AFTER you’re dead already. Which contradicts Rokara’s weapon, because the special thing happens after, just like the healing that you receive.

Thats good to point out but silence is a very niche keyword in hearthstone. Priest is the only class who has not only cost-efficient silences, but on top of that benefits to main-deck them in general. In the latest set one of the most powerful neutral silence cards was printed, its a 3 mana 2/4 Battlecry: SIlence ALL minions. And the ironic thing is that this card is so useful that you actually dont want to waste it on just silenceing Blademaster Okani unless it stops you from winning the game!

To comment on druid of the planes, you can almost look at it as a 7 mana 6/7 Taunt, Battlecry: Deal 7 damage to a minion, which just isn't impactful enough. I don't remember the meta around when this card was in standard off the top of my head but if you're ramping as druid the cards you want to play at that amount of mana are usually warping the entire game and if you're aggro you obviously won't include this card. Its comparible to crowd roaster from rastakhan's rumble (the least powerful hearthstone expansion) which was only good off discover or maybe seen niche play in a book of spectres mage deck

Essay time on Prince Renethal. TL;DR: the conclusion is that I think Prince is likely pretty shit in rotation, will be complained about on ladder despite this, and will wind up seeing little to no tournament play in rotation formats after 6 months or so when people are done honeymoon testing and get some more data. Bare with me as I blindly assume shit in Hearthstone to compare it to similar existing mechanics in other games so I can make a conclusion more than just "ya this is good against aggro" and answer "why would this be good against aggro and at what cost". I only know a few things about Hearthstone, so please forgive my lack of knowledge. This is much akin to the video, I play MTG and Runeterra exclusively for a while now. I have played Eternal, Hearthstone, Elder Scrolls: Legends, Yu-gi-oh, Pokemon, and a few others in my time. As a HS player, you will have to fill in blanks about importance that I highlight yourself if you care to. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Alright, let's take a look at Prince. We're going to use MTG principles to understand the cost and effect better while still trying to apply it to what little I know about Hearthstone. In MTG, there are two formats called EDH (or Commander) and Legacy. Both share from the same card pool, but have different ban lists. Ignoring that for a second, let's analyze. Legacy - 60 card deck, 20 life EDH - 100 card deck, 30 life (ignoring commander damage for this) From Legacy to EDH, there is a 67% increase in deck size and a 50% increase in life From HS to Prince decks, there is a 33% increase in deck size and a 33% increase in life So naturally the deck size increase requirement is 100% more in EDH for 50% more life increased life from the HS variant increase. Competitive 1v1 EDH decks can win by turns 3-5 for aggressive options, and Legacy is turns 1-3. It's a large leap, but given that the percentages say Prince is about twice as good as MTG decks going from Legacy to EDH, I'd say the deckbuilding requirement is going to slow your deck down by about a turn safely in WILD formats (which are closer to Legacy in this comparison). We're entirely ignoring the consistency mechanic in Commander decks (the commander(s) themselves which start the game in your hand every game and can be recast) which lowers the cost increase in deck size as well, which is again VERY generous to Prince, but I don't need to include that for my conclusion. So I will continue to be generous. Of course this relies on a bunch of assumptions about card parity in MTG and Hearthstone being somewhat equal. This is a very generous assumption we will make here to show Prince at its top strength because frankly, all I know about HS parity is that they haven't been releasing cards for 30 years in this format like MTG has (to create parity over time naturally). In addition, if we talk about Rotation formats, card parity is MUCH lower due to a much smaller card pool, so the cards 31-40 (including this) you put in will make your deck much, much weaker than even cards 80-100 in competitive EDH decks and will, in turn, slow your deck down by more relatively. Additionally, Legendaries are 1 per deck in Hearthstone, so drawing your best Legendaries 33% less often is (I imagine) an absurdly high cost compared to MTG which has no systems like this in your deck. Hearthstone players know this cost far more than I do. My conclusions about Prince with all this information is the following - * Slowing down your win by a turn due to consistency from this card's inclusion is not irrelevant. It is more likely in rotation formats to slow you down by closer to 2 turns while keeping you from drawing 1-of legendries in (a vacuum ignoring additional card draw inclusions in deck slots 32-40) 33% more of your games. * This card stands as a situational meta choice for ladder and larger tournaments where you expect aggro to be overrepresented. It isn't even that strong if it delays you by 1.5 turns, persay, since aggro can needs to meet a requirement of 10 damage in 1.5 turns = a bit less than 7 damage per turn to close out the game with some strong variance on that number. Seems painful but this is again the best case scenario where your opponent CARES about your life and has no time. Also doesn't seem insurmountable if aggro is good enough, but I don't really know. * The community will, in fact, bitch whine and moan about this card 100%. Something about "meh games taking longer" and "aggro decks are dead" will show up from aggro ladder brainlets who don't understand the cost of adding bad cards to your deck in the long term because THEY don't play Prince decks to see it themselves, so it is an artificial cost in their minds. In reality, this card literally almost can never remove aggro decks from the meta on its own, even IF it was as good as they think and I'm totally wrong. If it ever got that prevalent, the counterplay is there (again, Princeless versions of a deck beat Prince versions naturally over time unless both Prince decks are aggro). At worst, aggro is absurdly strong in HS and this counters it to create a tringle meta of Aggro losing to Prince decks losing to non-Prince decks losing to Aggro. The only "doom" scenario would be aggro prince mirrors being tier 0. I don't see it happening since the consistency of drawing your best one and two drops is generally very important to aggro, but again I don't know Hearthstone. * Over the course of a few months as testing shows longer term results, Prince will see less and less rotation tournament play. Consistency is king in card games. Especially in rotation formats. * Wild is the true home for this card. With the introduction of more cards in a metagame, that metagame verges towards earlier and earlier wins, so the extra 10 health is stronger and the extra card requirement is not as punishing due to higher card parity. If you read this far, you're a real fuckin trooper.

A hate card that targets the whole range of aggressive decks can be a massive problem IF there are decks that are heavily vulnerable to aggro.

The point of the card is if you live against aggro to turn 6 that you wouldn't otherwise, the card won you the game. It doesn't matter how inconsistent your deck is when aggro ran out of gas and you stabilized due to the extra 10 health. A class like Druid has HORRENDOUS anti-aggro tools in standard right now so Renethal completely enabled Prestor Druid as an actual option of a deck since it gives Druid enough of a buffer to make it to Prestor. The consistency hit is even LESS relevant in this deck because they run literally 5 copies of Lady Prestor and card draw to see her on curve virtually every single game even at 40 cards. Is it an auto include in every deck? Absolutely not, but the card is MORE than playable and gets better the more cards are introduced in standard as the card quality of your 31-40 are going to naturally go up. This VERY moment is the absolute worst Renethal will be for 8 months and is in a multitude of tier 1 and 2 decks because the inconsistency hit is not nearly as big of a deal as literally auto losing to aggro which is what things like Druid and Mage struggle more with. Prestor and Alignment Druid both eat control and slower decks up for breakfast so literally anything they CAN do to slightly increase the winrate against Aggro is 100% worth it because the Control deck is never beating like turn 7 Alignment or Kazakusan.

@@amethonys2798 Consistency matters far more than you give credit for. There may be decks that can run 5 copies of a card but that doesn't offset the cost of having to add the 10 worst cards for your deck. This opportunity cost is too high. Almost certainly, even with what you mentioned. Wait for a few months after release when the emotional arguments against this card die down and see where it stands. I'd be shocked if it saw any play. It's not like aggro decks in hearthstone have no reach, hero powers are a natural form of reach ignoring anything else in the game besides that. The stabilizing tools would have to be good enough already to make decks that would abuse this well good enough to begin with. This health is supremely overrated. Take another perspective. By not putting this in your deck, you remove this and the 9 other worst cards in your deck (25% reduced) and take 25% of your damage. Let's take a look at what that would do in the other direction to gain perspective on removing the worst quarter of your deck for health. 3 mana 3/4 You have a minimum deck size of 22. You start the game at 22 health. How much hype would this get? How insanely broken would it be? This is the reality - consistent and streamlined gameplans almost always rule in card games. Any time this sort of thing comes up, people hype it up and then it disappoints. I hope you aren't disappointed in a few months when the Druid decks you mentioned are still bad at dealing with their problems or are inconsistent at best.

@@Reign274 Again, the consistency DOES NOT MATTER for Prestor Druid. It is already a deck that runs literally 20+ "bad" cards to scam with Prestor. Its stats are absurdly good for a deck that is supposedly "horribly inconsistent" and has issues. The deck literally can only get better as more "less bad" 1-2 drops get printed and can only get worse if the next expansion (not Nathria because we already know the theme) floods the card pool with bad dragons. It fights for board "well enough" against aggro to not die and bounces back with randomly generated nonsense like Primordial Drakes, Alexstrasza, Deathwing, Ysera, etc. Control just never wins the match up because they can't pressure you hard enough and they never outvalue multiple Kazakusan's.
