RASC-TC It's Sirius O'Clock: Astronomical Timekeeping in Ancient Egypt

Ever wondered how the Ancient Egyptians kept time? Well, Dr. Sarah Symons from McMaster University wondered about this, too. With the help of some of her colleagues, she participated in a research project to find out how they managed time. On April 10, 2019, she presented some of her findings at the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada - Toronto Centre's Speaker's Night. The meeting was held at the Ontario Science Centre in Toronto Canada.

@ about 46:28 there are two words "Wnmy" and "Imny" meaning Right and West respectively. In Hebrew and Arabic these Roots are "Y M N" as in the name Benjamin or Binyamin ( Son of the Right or possibly West). I noticed the same thing in the Book of the Dead as it use to be called Nuk pu Nuk might actually mean Kun fa Yakun or "Be and It Is" and not "I am that I am". My question is are we reading some Egyptian words and terms backwards? Is the language more related to Hebrew and Arabic than we previously thought? Ptah means Opener and FTH is Arabic root of Open with the F being used instead of the P in spelling.

Please note the fish in ancient Egypt rappresents the jump in the water as the 5 days time for each season so the 5 days time will move on for each season from Left to right rappresenting the stars circles of life. Regards.

As I understand this, the hour, as a measure of space in time, is nonlinear, that is to say, it gets either wider or smaller as the year moves on. As for the figure, it seems to be facing south: The sun is in the south: The Nile comes from the south.

@@walt3223 the Summer Solstice is when the Sun rose at its most southern point, but now I think about it, I think it actually makes it the Winter Solstice, which was the Egyptian New Year Its a bit confusing as it's on the equator, but I think it may designate Winter Solstice, or maybe the Cross Quarter day we celebrate as Halloween. I think it's the Winter Solstice though because that is what Rameses Temple aligns with. The Egyptian New Year. Which is weird because at that time Sirius should be rising in September. I guess this might be the missing link, if Sirius doesn't move with the precession of the Zodiac, it may be that that is why we have these different versions of New Year based on the lack of precession of Sirius, from which Assyria got their name. Sirius also being the star of Thoth Add the fact that they saw the day beginning with the evening, it all gets pretty complex. But I think I'm right, it's the first star to appear in the East at Sunset through to the heliacal rising just before Dawn. Thus we get the Horus Scope, the Watchers of Horus, or the Watchers of the Hours.

The Temple of Melqart was recorded by Herodotus as having two pillars, one of Gold, and one of Emerald, representing Isis and and Ra. Herodotus reported that circumcision is only practiced by the Egyptians, Colchians, Ethiopians, Phoenicians, the 'Syrians of Palestine', and "the Syrians who dwell about the rivers Thermodon and Parthenius, as well as their neighbours the Macronians and Macrones". The Colchains mentioned were Iberians, whose name shares the same root as "Hebrew" meaning "over" perhaps in reference to their origins in Iberia, over the Mediterranean, or their abilities as Seafarers to travel over the ocean. It's no coincidence then that we find a Temple to Melqart in Gibraltar, home to the pillars of Hercules, the Greek Melqart, who in turn was the Phoenician Horus, God of Healing. Hence Son of the Serpent, as Greek kings were also called Basciliae, and worshipped in Basilisks. Pythagoras means Heart of the Serpent, with Agora also used by Phoenicians, meaning heart of the City, Heart being a reference to Bel, Baal, and Nimrod, hence Valentines day, 14 February, the Full Moon of Februs the Goat God, ie Capricorn in the age of Taurus. The Sons of Light who wrote the Dead Sea Scrolls studied the Mysteries of Pythagoras, wh was born in Sidon, Kingdom of the Fish, the Si being the Chi in Chi Rho, the red cross of Jerusalem adopted by Constantine, later becoming the X in Xmas, marking the age of Pisces ♓

In The Bible- the 4 corners of the Zodiac are Seraphic. Four Heads are the 4 corners of zodiac. Bull - Aquarius- Leo - Scorpio. Note. In Babylon Zodiac, the Eagle is used and not the Greek Scorpion. The Babylon Zodiac is much older then the Greek Zodiac.

The zodiacs you speak of our from around 700 BC, much later than the one that she shows. Scorpio (Aquilla) is part of the Golden Gate of the Gods, behind Sagittarius and Scorpio is the center of our galaxy, where stars are born, they called they gods, The Silver Gate of Man is between Gemini and Taurus, Orion stands in the center holding his Club, on the day of the Summer Solstice, the Sun is located at the tip of Orion's Club. If you look at the center of the Egyptian and Babylonian star maps, you see a Standing Wolf, riding a Plow, that is the hieroglyph of Wepwawet, the son of Seth, the brother of Anubis, we call Wepwawet Ursa Minor, the Little Dipper. In Sumerian 'Ur' means "Dog", 'sa' means "Red". Just before Sirius dropped below the horizon for 70 days, the would sacrifice a Red Dog (Ursa) to the Dog Star Sirius.
