I’m literally crying. My childhood is coming to a end. This band is my all time favorite that won’t ever change. They have done it yet again with a song that gets to your heart every song they have ever made has something behind it. They are the definition of true country.

Same. My all time favorite band, nobody could every replace them. Ever. It was my worst fear that they would call it quits someday in the near future and it happened. At least they are ending on yet another amazing note with this song, and I'm sure the rest of the EP will be great. It just makes it harder hearing more of their amazing new music right before they go, knowing that its almost over. Very bittersweet.

Forgive me, but they're not the definiton of true country. I like them, put they do pop power-ballads. True country is fiddle and steel guitar. They'll be back, by the way. It's an old trick of driving up ticket sales for a farwell tour (which back-fired because of Covid). A reunion tour will inevitably happen by 2030 at the latest. In the meantime, there's the solo albums, which means you'll get three times the material.

They hardly "make" music. They're essentially high level cover artists. They use writers, and record songs written by other people for the most part. Even from the very start. Praying for Daylight was the first song that broke them. NOT written by Rascal Flatts. Their next big song These Days, NOT written by them. Their other big songs too. Bless The Broken Road, What Hurts The Most, Life is a Highway..just to name a few. They wrote NONE of those songs. They do write some of their songs but not many, and they're not the ones that end up becoming successful for them. They're a great group and I love them, but let's not credit them for the quality of songwriting.
@matthewshull83763 жыл бұрын
@@closinginonclosure your freaking point? Wow, you nailed the music business with this dumb statement. Who cares who wrote some of their songs, those writers don't sing them because they can't and be a presence like Rascal Flatts has been, and will always be. Their music will live on forever, they put their hearts into everything they ever did. In 20 years, will I remember who wrote one of their songs, um no, it will only be the joy felt from them singing it on one of THEIR albums for all to hear. Bitter much?
@closinginonclosure3 жыл бұрын
@@matthewshull8376 You’re an idiot. “What’s my point?”. Literally said my point in my reply smart guy. Also, what do you mean “nailed the music business”? I was talking about Rascal Flatts. Last time I checked, they aren’t the music business. Third, you said “those writers don’t sing them”. That’s wrong too dummy. One of their most successful songs “Life is a Highway” was a single by the actual writer. It was a hit for him and got tons of radio play and had a music video and everything in the 90s. The guy who wrote These Days and What’s Hurts the Most and many others was absolutely singing those songs. He’d tour and play them around the country. If you’re going to reply, at least know what you’re talking about. Because you sound pretty dumb saying silly things that are completely false.
@matthewshull83763 жыл бұрын
@@closinginonclosure I guess I triggered that bitter nerve I was referencing. I didn't say none of their songwriters performed their own music, I said many don't, they just write for other artists. And I meant that the music business is full of artists that just sing other peoples songs, not their own, as they are just singers and a commodity to the music executives. Yes, Life Is A Highway was a song they covered for a movie, and Cochran wrote it and performed it well before they covered it. Who cares, many people were turned on to it because of Rascal Flatts version and the movie Cars. My apologies for not being specific enough for you to comprehend, apparently my choice to comment about something pissed you off for some damn reason. You seemed to have a stick up your ass about wanting to point out to people on this thread that Rascal Flatts was just a cover band of sorts, with no real talent. My response was to say why are you here commenting if you don't even recognize their talent or legacy. Go back to being a keyboard warrior and being bitter.
@closinginonclosure3 жыл бұрын
@@matthewshull8376 @Matthew Shull What? 😂🤦♂️ You're the only person here who's triggered, guy. I was just addressing your points, or lack there of. I'm not sure of you didn't read my original comment or just lack a brain and reading retention. Because I specifically said I love the band and they're great at what they do. My specific point was not acting like they're amazing songwriters and give them credit for the songwriting. Lastly, you act like musicians using writers for the majority of their stuff is how "the music industry works". 😂 There are tons of artists who write their own stuff and would never use a writer. There's a difference between real ARTISTS and Performers. Using writers happens most in Country and Pop and still not everyone uses writers. Even more rare is someone using writers from DAY ONE.

"Classic sound"? As if they wrote it. Lol. Their songs have come from countless writers over the past 2 decades. The only constant is the guys preforming the songs other people write. They're essentially high level cover artists. They use writers, and record songs written by other people for the most part. Even from the very start. Praying for Daylight was the first song that broke them. NOT written by Rascal Flatts. Their next big song These Days, NOT written by them. Their other big songs too. @@closinginonclosure I know what you mean but it’s the classic rascal Flatts sound. Yea they didn’t write the song but it still sounds like their older songs. They could’ve thrown drum loops and a crap tone of auto tune on it to sound like the modern stuff but they didn’t. To me it sounds like something that would’ve been on the still feels good album. Besides life is a highway I wouldn’t call the songs not written by them covers because the songs were literally pitched to them to record. They all were just laying around waiting to be recorded. Pretty much meaning the rights to the song can belong to whoever records it. Music is a business ya know.
@closinginonclosure3 жыл бұрын
@@shae482 Sorry my friend, but none of that is true. Life is a Highway was a single by Tom Cochran several years before Rascal Flatts covered it. It came out in 1991 and got tons of radio play in the 90s. It wasn't sitting on the shelf waiting to be recorded. Music video and all kzbin.info/www/bejne/i2TWfp2jbqqfpdE Jeffrey Steele is a singer songwriter who's provided several songs for them. Songs he recorded himself and was preforming before Rascal Flatts got them. What Hurts the Most, These Days, My Wish, Then I Did, Once, and Here are just some of them. Lastly, I'm a musician and producer myself and have to completely disagree that this track sounds like their older stuff. It doesn't. It's much different sonically. Gary is a great singer, but don't be mistaken. His voice is smoothed out and pitch corrected. The drums are perfectly gridded. Probably through a program such as beat detective. All guitars, bass, and other sonic elements are all played with and gridded out as well. The production here is much different than their older records. That's just a fact. You can hear it all in the track. Now to your point, Gary has a great voice so the autotune doesn't have to bend the vocals as hard making it not as obvious as some artists. But it's something Rascal Flatts has always used. Gary has spoken on that and said he's all for it and he just wants the recordings to sound as good as possible.
@closinginonclosure3 жыл бұрын
@@shae482 And just to be clear, as I said before. They do write some of their songs and co write with people on some songs. And they do have some songs that have in fact been written and not preformed by anyone yet. I'm mainly speaking to the songs I've mentioned and some of the biggest hits they've had.
@shae4823 жыл бұрын
@@closinginonclosure I’m not denying that there is auto tune it’s just not completely laced with it. Gary said he has near perfect pitch but he’d use pitch correction all day if he could. I’m aware life is a highway was recorded by Tom and the Flatts Version is a cover. But the other songs you listed aren’t covers. What hurts the most was laying around Nashville because nobody wanted to record it because it was a ballad. But the Flatts got it pitched to them in 05 and cut it. Just because something is written by another artist doesn’t make it a cover if it’s recorded by another artist. Broken road sat around for years after being recorded by multiple artists. It was originally supposed to be on the Flatts first album but they passed on the first time. Say what you want about the sound but it’s undeniably the classic Flatts sound. Dan huff produced it and he’s a big part of the Flatts past. The guitars in the outro as well as the lack of keys and synthesizers that completely coverd their last album makes it scream that classic rascal Flatts sound and definitely has huffs guidance written all over it.

You guys are the greatest band of all time. You debuted a year before I was born and your first album was released the day before I was born. I was born on June 7th, 2000. I’m 20 now and ever since I was a baby I’ve loved you guys and your music. All 20 years of my life were spent listening to you guys and I have no regrets. You will always be my favorite band out of all genres of music and always will till the day I die. Thank you for being one of the biggest parts of my life. ❤️❤️❤️
