Rascal Flatts guitarist Joe Don Rooney has just shared with fans that he recently went through what he described as a traumatic 'PTSD experience' during a recent flight into Nashville, Tennessee. Joe Don Rooney has been very transparent on his recovery and sobriety from substance abuse and is sharing his story in hopes to help others.

I have had panic attacks and sometimes they can over take you and you can’t control them ! They can be very scary and asp leaving you very tired ! It’s no fun having an attack ! I’m glad he is ok and wish him well !

I am glad that you were able to work through your PTSD experience. My nephew has PTSD from going to Iraq twice. I have anxiety and have situations in which I go through. I am a person that needs to express my feelings. My nephew is getting through his PTSD with the help of his 3rd wife who helps him along with his service dog Ben. I work through my anxiety by myself which is tough but I do it. I pray for you and I am glad that you are getting better. God bless you! ✝️🙏🏼🛐🥰

I have PTSD and have been through trauma therapy, which has helped me tremendously. I can relate to everything he said as flying, in and of itself, is a trigger for me. JDR - you are definitely not alone!!

Panic attacks r scary 😬. Taking a walk can help but ya can’t do that in an airplane. Ugh

I know how u feel I to have anxiety and panic attacks. I take my meds with me because I can't handle large groups of people and I to am claustrophobic and we took a airplane to Florida from Kansas first time flying and it was what they call a air bus(small airplane) and way to many people I was so glad I had my meds. prayers for u and next time don't forget ur meds

I am severely claustrophobic and the last time I flew was 27 years ago to meet my sons birth mom. The doctor had given me Valium which did me no good whatsoever. Now mind you my husband flew all the time and this was one of those smaller planes that didn’t have any middle seats. My husband will still tell you to this day that we had the worst turbulence he has ever felt in his entire life, that he was actually shook from how bad it was and my husband is a rock & nothing shakes him but the funny thing was I don’t remember the turbulence at all because that’s never been my issue, I’m not afraid to fly per se it’s that I can’t get out of the plane that is the issue. I do however remember the beautiful flight attendant that came into eye contact with me and I swear to this day she saved my life. She took me up into first class because there was no one in there and funny note is I don’t remember first class either all I remember was her allowing me to use the first class bathroom and everything he said was so true about the bathroom. The short times I would come out of the bathroom I laid on the floor I was a complete mess but the flight attendant was so kind and I kept focusing on her and we made it through it. Our Birth Mom was magnificent and completely understanding because I was so out of sorts it wasn’t even funny by the time we met her face-to-face. When it came time to going back home I begged my husband like it was for my life and we ended up renting a car and driving home. That’s the last time I ever flew.

Oh yeah Those panic Attacks are real I know this now bc of what just put me in the hospital my spleen busted and had to have part of my Colin cut out my ovaries out other things wow and panic attacks are no fun I'm still trying to get over all but I pray you get better you are better yes panic attacks that was my first I that I was gonna have a heartattack or die one wow they are real I have nothing for them these dr.s in Mississippi don't care I guess but I'm proud of you I pray for you love yall and you❤
