It is just many players have a different mentality in 2023 versus players in previous eras. John Stockton and Karl Malone both played all 82 regular season games for over 10 NBA seasons. I know Michael Jordan played all 82 regular season games too for multiple seasons, and arenas would sell out just to see Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls play the local team. Back in the 90s, the NBA season started around Halloween versus now it is mid October. I remember the Blazers didn’t do any load management back in the strike shorten season back in 1999. The Blazers used a ten man rotation from what I remember and they still managed to win the Pacific Division title that year. Rasheed would have to play four games in five nights or play games three nights in a row. Sheed practiced what he preached in this video.

I like this take. There's no reason a star can't come in and play 5-10 minutes and stay healthy. It's probably better longterm they do that anyway. All that being said, Blazers have one of the worst injury histories of any franchise, so if anyone whittle be worried about injuries it's Portland.

What a lot of ppl overlook with the load management is players sit out games instead of play reduced minutes because it’ll affect they scoring avg. I wonder the same thing that sheed mention and that was the conclusion. Players would rather sit out the entire game rather than have to force a big game in shorter minutes

This is why I am proud to be a fan of '90s NBA Basketball 🏀💯 They understood and took pride in the fact they didn't take days off! Pat Riley did load management on some of those Lakers teams in the late 80s with Magic and Kareem. Pat Riley just waited till the end of the season to protect some of players for a deep playoff run. San Antonio was the first team to start the whole load management as a way to give their older players like Tim Duncan or Manu Ginobili a break during the regular season.

As long as there is load management there should be refunds.

Back in the day not inly did guys play all 82 games, but they also averaged 40 mpg as well. Even in his age 39 season MJ played 82 games and averaged 37mpg. What they do today is a joke. Malarkey, Lebron has only played all 82 games once in his whole career. He is in his 21st season currently. He participated in the whole load management BS too. I would agree that Kawhi Leonard is the poster child of load management going back to his days playing for the Spurs. If Lebron wants to be like MJ, then maybe Lebron should do what MJ did at 38 years old and go play all 82 regular season games. MJ played as many games possible in his Wizards uniform to sold out arenas.

Lebron playing all of his games are you joking? Lebron has only played all 82 games in a single season once, and he is in his 21st season right now. John Stockton and Karl Malone have over 10 seasons were both of them played the full regular season. Michael Jordan played all 82 games in his first season with the Wizards (similar age as Lebron is now) and 8 seasons in Chicago he played every game. Lebron is a great player, but he has participated in the whole load management BS during portions of his career.

These entitled current daynplayers don’t care about the fans and this is why viewership is down.
