Rashid calculated about 45-60mins before he played Qxf6. At first, his opponent got off his chair and wandered around the tournament area. Later, he got tired and became impatient with Rashid. However, once he came back and saw what Rashid played, he never left his seat again.

Locutus D'Borg Chernikov got off his chair, and he lost the game. I think that if someone crushed Magnus like this, after he stood up, he would never do it again.
@jonathanbeeson86149 жыл бұрын
Zelkathz I read somewhere that Chernikov casually walked away because at that time ...Bf6 was a known drawing line, starting the repetition Qh6, Bg7, Qh4, Bf6, Qh6 etc. Imagine his shock when his opponent instead of taking the draw sacriced the Q !!

@TeodomirodosSantos8 жыл бұрын
I don't think Tal's chess is crazier than Rashid's. Tal sacrifices are crazy ones but Rashid's are INSANE!!! Not even the crazy Tal would sacrifice his queen at the start of the game... that level of calculation should be considered science fiction.

+Teodomiro dos Santos that's exactly what i just said,he was crazier than Tal.
@ifeanyiilogbaka70995 жыл бұрын
@@TeodomirodosSantos exactly my point, Tal sacrifices at the middle games, but this sacrifice at the start of a game, even when the queen has a safe spot to go to, this is madness.

4:56 if king takes knight, then isn't rook h3 better? It looks like a mate in two, because after king g8, rook h8 should be mate. Also, what would happen if black blocked the check with rook e5?
@CanEmre0936 жыл бұрын
If rook blocked white would win easily. If he played as you said probably the game would continue like Rxf7-King(h8)-Bxb5-dxe5-R to f8 Kxh7-Rxf8-Rxf8 and Rook f1 to e1 so white would win easily

no the depth of the game can't be understood by amateurs like us..the sacrifice was made keeping in mind that the bishop on c8 and the rook on a8 are just spectators..and the rook on f8 is also not doing much right then and i am only saying this cos i analysed the game myself before.i love rashid's games..they show u the beauty of chess..u have to see rashid vs tal games and u ll know what king of a player he is
@goonerjumper41711 жыл бұрын
and generally people don't play just 30 mins., classical chess games take about hours i guess 4 hours for each side that's an actual classical chess game time limit..formats may be different but usually people have a lot of time in these games..although 30 min games fall under the classical category they are not the ones most played in the tournaments

i think difference between Tal and Rashid is that when Tal sacrifices, about 3 moves afterwards there will be checkmate. While Rashid sacrifices effect not felt in the near moves. when i play someone lower level than me i can play like tal. sacrifice and sacrifice and mate. but you can not play like rashid even when playing with someone lower level than you. i mean how could he sacrifice his queen but after a few moves nothing interesting happens. how could he calculate so many moves after the sacrifice that he will get the enemy queen?
@knightfox14615 жыл бұрын
Absolutely correct. These kind of moves I think are more instinctively felt and then calcukated through his mind several times. After all in this game Oleg Chernikov was getting annoyed over the need to thinking over a draw moment but Rashid took about 40minutes thinking over the move. Mind it the game was around 5hour long. I jave hard time doing such a trick in blitz much less in a serious tournament

This is no immediate blunder, but there are some inaccuracies, however black would have had to have played incredibly precisely to not make inaccuracies. If you put the queen sac into stockfish it rates black as ahead (by 1 point).
