I control interior temperature by opening the windows at night when the temperature falls, and closing all windows, pulling all curtains closed, during the day and into the evening... this keeps the house a lot cooler than the ambient outdoor temperature. If your cabin was closed up, and there isn't much heat coming in from the sun on the roof, it will not heat up quickly, the thermal mass of the interior will be slower to heat than the air outside. If you open the windows while it is hot outside, the thermal mass of the building and contents will heat, and stay hot as the now hot thermal mass of the building radiats heat.

Actually Russ, a Ball Hitch is a good way to go. They are used on all kinds of trailers, big and small and when properly used, they work great. The ball must be solid to the back of the vehicle and the right size hitch must match the ball. Your trailer should have the axle a little off center toward the back so you can easily load stuff on it so more weight is forward of the axle, not the other way around.

the c hook on the trailer is not a pentle. It is for hooking change for tow straps together you need a true panel hook on your trailer to go to the other end of the panel hook on your ATV it's like a donut and it's and it's all one piece so you need to swap those out and it'll work much better.if you go to the trailer store and ask for a penile hook they will show you the hook part that's on your ATV and then the piece that goes on the trailer they should show you that and you'll see the difference and it will work much better.

I wasn't going to say it again but Marc did so its ok to remind you that you need a better trailer and a pintal hitch isn't going to solve your problems. So the type of hitch you put on the trailer ( a clevis ) isn't what you want , you need a loop that's welded solid so there's no up and down movement. take a look at any pintal hitch on a big rig or military trailer and the trailer loop is solid , it doesn't pivot. So things Russ thinks about , small eggs come from small chicken, big heads don't fit small ear protectors, drills are not meant to ream holes sideways, when it wont fit grind it ! LOL Russ i want to make you a better trailer !!!

Don't get yourself down bud. I have mad respect for you for trying projects that you have no idea about. That's the only way we learn. If you're not making mistakes, you're not doing anything. There are two types of people in this world. Those who talk about ways to do stuff and the ones who fucking do it. You're getting close. You need a proper hitch and a shim to stop the movement on the receiver. And I don't want to be one of the know it alls who gives you advice but you're gonna have to get someone to weld some hangers on the trailer for leaf springs some day. Even with the pintle hitch you're still going to shake things loose or worse break welds over time without suspension under the trailer. Regardless. Keep yer head up and cheers till the next one!

@davevanden16 жыл бұрын
why not just use the proper size ball for the trailer
@patrickinottawa276 жыл бұрын
Russell, stop being so critical. Here's the main take away. You found the solution for the receiver. Awesome job. These parts are designed to fit many different vehicle and usually they always have to be modified to fit the vehicle. You did that score yourself an "A". You also found that by grinding down and re-drilling the tow bar which would have been done for many other applications depending on hitch and vehicle, so you also solved that problem on your own. Again score yourself an "A". Is the round shackle with the bolt through it a Pintle hitch - no. You knew the answer though, a pintle hitch is rigidly fixed and is usually welded solid to the piece going into the toe bar. The advantage you have in this instance. Most of this hitch is made for pulling thousands of pounds. Your pulling a little utility trailer with your ATV. It's going to flop around and make a lot of noise, but you could also bring it to the old welder at some point in time and in a few minutes he could arc weld that shackle so it was rigid and it's more than strong enough to pull the trailer. In the mean time it will work for ya. Try it, you might be okay with a little bang when stopping the ATV. Next time your home go in PA and look at a real Pintle Hitch and if you feel the need, change it then. Last thing... I learned and taught myself all that I know. Your not going to learn if you don't try. Give it a go... You will find you can do a lot more than you realize. I should add one thing... Every job takes longer than you think, that's just the way it goes. I think you did damn good ! Except maybe that IPA.

I wish You were closer I would offer to give you a hand and sort that out. Not sure a pintle set up is necessary for something that light but that is just my opinion. No doubt it will work if built correctly. You hit the nail on the head about the trailer end supposed to be fixed not flexible. They sold you a D ring or a clevice not a pintle ring. What you have is meant as a point to hook a tow strap or a chain to. Also your receiver (short square tube bolted to your atv) must not be able to move side to side at all or it is definitely destined for failure. Might need some mods to keep that from happening. My unhelpful 2 cents. Like i said if you were closer that would be a project i would offer to help out with but petawawa is a bit of a stretch. Good luck. Going to look and see if i have a proper pintle ring so i can show you a pic.
