Exhaust fan motor change out

I work on a nursing home...and they never say change the motor....they are always like just change the whole thing...lol...I have never had to change a motor in a fan like that... I learned a lot from this ....thanks

how do you wire this motor by removing the speed control?

Never worked on one of those before. Looks like the four inner legs which have two screws each would be tricky to reassemble. I gather you have to squeeze the legs as you lower into place? Not a friendly design. Thanks for showing.

I couldn't tell, are there drain holes that keep the rainwater from pooling down around the blower wheel? I see what looks like a horizontal drain for use when these are mounted through the wall, but what keeps the water from pooling up in a vertical-mount installation?

There is a drain in there for water & grease.

I decoded that Morris-code on the roof and it said....replace fan-motor at all costs then prepare for helo lift out... pop purple smoke when ready....
