I remember seeing this on a show and was mesmerized. Being brought up in Western Canada, I was amazed that this black man also got a standing ovation at that particular time. Awesome, definitely cannot be duplicated.

it is said that Frank Sinatra wouldn't play at clubs if they didn't let sam perform. sam would perform opening acts for him at times

I will never forget stumbling up on this concert one day in a discount bin. This whole show ROCKED. And Carson held his own. Stage full of real talent. Real Entertainment. Real Show Business. Show business nowadays is more about commerce than talent. Back then you did not even make it through the door without this level of talent. No smoke and mirrors to give the illusion of talent...you had to HAVE talent.

It's funny how Johnny Carson remains basically indifferent at Dean Martin's fall!
@robertfalcione83466 жыл бұрын
It was all undoubtedly scripted. After all, how could three guys rush over at once and help him up? The band played through it. It was a comedy routine by the greatest singers of the times. I feel so exhilarated by this video.

I wish I could print this page and be able to just carry this around as if the page was a portable ipod. I don't know why but that popped into my head and I was like....that's basically an ipod, but just it'd be so much more satisfying to have a large paper screen I can carry for this.....I'm tired. I should go to bed.

Am I the only one who notices that neither did Sinatra nor Dean Martin liked the comment Carson made?
@robertfalcione83466 жыл бұрын
I did not like Carson's comments either, but I believe every word was rehearsed and scripted, even Sammy's reply. I didn't like the butt grabbing, either, but it must have some context for the times. I attributed Carson's comments to a poor choice of words by writers.
