"Rat Remains" found in Japanese Bread: Firm Recalls Over 100,000 Packets | Vantage with Palki Sharma
A headline has come out of Japan that is horrifying the world. The world is aghast that Japan, known for its obsession with great hygiene, is facing a rat-related catastrophe. Pasco, a Japanese bread-making company, has had to issue a recall after two packets of bread were found to contain "Rat Remains". Pasco has recalled 104,000 packets of bread and also issued a public apology. But will this be enough to salvage the reputation that the company has built over the years? Food recalls are rare in Japan, but when a problem does occur, the stock market has punished the errant companies.

The fact that they didnt conceal this and had to recall a lot of those bread more than they should, speaks a lot about Japanese culture. If this happened in other countries, I bet, no recall would have to be done And that they would probably only compensate the person who reported the incident.

Indian news talking about Japanese food hygiene, when Indian cities are amongst the most polluted, crowded and filthiest in the world. How about a story on this? The bread manufacturer in this instance has done the right thing for the sake of public health and will lose customer loyalty, will face fines, loss in stock valuation. Rightly so.

it’s unrealistic, people would starve since the demand for food is too high. All processed foods have a certain amount of “unavoidable defects”. 4-6% of bean cans are allowed to be insect infested or moldy, it’s the consequence of producing certain foods at such a high rate to feed our fat a$$ nation lol

@tesac_182 I worked at the food production line in a food company. Most machine checkers are for metal detectors only. When a product has a bit of metal like screws, nails, and all other kinds of metals, big, small, or powdered in it, once it goes through the metal detector, it will sound the alarm and the box containing that metal contaminated product will be pushed away by the machine. And it happens several times in food production facilities. But this machine will not ever detect some kind of foreign thing like that cockroach or rat or any organic thing.

LIFE'S LESSON:Examine further oneself, for THERE is A MIRROR that has EXAMINED, EXAMINES the Works of thy critic, being a critic is putting oneself to the shoes of a situation, applying the standard that encourages, uses applicable terminologies in judgment. ****IMPORTANT**** this is a NON-AI response to Quality approach.

@ Palki, you are very quick to pounce on this like you were waiting for it to happen, and you put your dirty spin on it, making it appear worse than it really is ....... Kudos to the Japanese bakery though and Japan at large for not cutting corners or try to hush it like India would have done. Recalling the entire batch regardless of huge losses speaks to a high ethical standard and a tradition of integrity that Japan is known for.... Unlike India which is one of the filthiest places on earth, exporting Toxins all over the world through their food, medicines, spices and all , and never having enough integrity in them to do a recall. Seeing the splinter in someone else's eyes but not the log in your own eyes.

You heard right. It's called KOMEKO (米粉) or "rice flour." It's much more tastier and have better texture but than traditional wheat flour. However, it's a few times more expensive, so only high-end bakeries can use it.
