At least a dozen projects that were dropped immediately after release like PSAS, Starhawk, etc., marquee series were undermarketed and dropped to promote Uncharted 3, the Vita happened...fever dream is spot-on!

the ironic part is that Sony never owned Crash & Spyro, they were merely exclusives that Sony pushed uber hard instead of pushing their 1st party IPs...then PS2 gave us the holy Playstation platformer trinity, and they hardly bother caring anymore. Thankfully we do have a new Ratchet & Clank on the way for PS5 that actually continues the story from Into the Nexus, but Jak & Sly are still in that sad limbo of underutilized Sony franchises with MediEvil ( since MediEvil 2 we've had 2 remakes of the first game...and a crappy Move spin-off ), Wild Arms, Resistance and Ape Escape :/ Sony is beyond weird when it comes to their own IPs....

@@newageBoundhippie resistance finished it's story, unlike Sly where we could still have some story with it. Though i've looked at the ending of 4 and came up with a potential theory to why we haven't had a 5th game: Sly cooper becomes the ancestor of his family in an endless time loop. Sent to the past by accident and ends up starting his family line in ancient Egypt. He does look similar to Slytunkhamen Cooper if you look closely. Again this is just my theory.

There are actually 2 more references in Borderlands 3, there's a challenge for killing Ratch enemies called 'Ratch Clanker', and in the code of the game but currently unobtainable (hopefully not forever, with patches and hot fixes in the future fixing its loot source) there's an overpowered heavy weapon called the R.Y.N.A.H in the game, with its description being a direct quote from Nefarious in the movie.

@@TheGoldenBolt good news! the rynah is now obtainable, however it appears to be some weird mix of the ryno and the bfg from doom. it shoots two large, slow projectiles that attach damaging beams to enemies they pass by much like the bfg, and then when the projectiles explode they launch a barrage of mini homing rockets at every enemy that was damaged by the beam attack, kinda like the ryno. very odd gun

it's in my top 5 overall, and is my absolute favorite 1st part Playstation franchise. Rift Apart is literally the reason I'm making the PS5 a priority at launch ( disc version so I can start getting PS4 games to play on it and also continue to rent from Gamefly ). Only entries in the series thus far I haven't liked playing were Size Matters and Secret Agent Clank... Now I'm just wishing Sony would play ball with Nintendo and get the duo into Smash Bros....

Now their is a legendary weapon called RYNAH which is a legendary rocket launcher and functions similary to the BFG weapon from doom 2016. Though the projectiles when detonated release rockets like the RYNO. You can get it in the proving ground's, instinct gauntlet.

Also I wanted to mention that I believe there was a Ratchet Easter Egg in the Tree Tops level in Spyro Reignited that was forgotten. Can't remember the dragons name, but he reference is part of his staff. In Gnorc Cove, there were a few crates that do resemble the standard bolt crates from the R&C series.

Crash hasn't been a PlayStation mascot character at any point during the 21st century, he's been a third party shell of himself until very recently, and he's still third party! He'd be the Mario of the _PS1_ despite not being a first-party franchise, but he was barely even relevant for most of the last 20 years thanks to mismanagement and waning interest. He's a precursor - as another commenter said, he's closer to the Alex Kidd of PS if anything.

Yes crash has been down right abused and thrown all over the place lately but he was literally known as the Mario of PlayStation back when the ps1 came out. There were even commercials back in the 90’s of crash standing outside of Nintendo’s headquarters making fun of Mario and calling him a stupid Plummer boy. He was literally referred to as playstations one up to Mario. He was Mario from a different angle with better graphics. I’m mad about how he’s been treated recently too but he’s the Mario of PlayStation and definitely not ratchet and clank.

i' like to tell you about a new one: in the newest game "Rift Apart", the "Ryno 8" weapon, instead of firing missiles, opens a rift and drops a large object on the enemy. and if you upgrade it, it will "drop objects for other dimensions", which are actually from other games! i've actually seen it drop Sly Cooper's van on an enemy!

In Resistance 3 at the end an enemy in Rachet and Clank a Crack in Time shows up as a toy in the ending cutscene. If you are paying attention to just before Capelli rocks up in the VETOL to a happy wife you see his son playing with a toy Hydra Battle Tank.
