With Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart confirmed to have LOTS of returning characters, just who could we see? Are we going to see complete alternate versions of the characters we remember?
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is a full length game confirmed by Insomniac Games as well. With that in mind and with Marcus Smith's (Creative Director) statement regarding nods to the series, just who could we expect to see?
Rift Apart is a PlayStation 5 exclusive. The game is planned to release within the launch window of the PS5.

I still can't believe it's been 18 years since the first game came out. As for who I want to see in Rift Apart: The Plumber (obviously) Percival Tachyon Artemis Zogg This game feels like the perfect moment for these two villains to make a comeback considering how unstable the multiverse is right now with broken dimensions everywhere.

I would like to see Gleeman Vox, Chairman Drek and our Courtney Gears appear in Rift Apart. Since we're dealing with alternate universes, we can see different scenarios based on if previous villains won. Imagine Ratchet going through a rift and landing on a planet about to be destroyed by drifting toward the sun because of Alternate Drek taking a chunk out of the planet. Ratchet would have to rush to the nearest rift to escape, meanwhile lamenting that he can't save anyone who isn't able to make it into a rift. You could have Alternate Gleeman Vox rule his universe with an alternate Ratchet as his top Exterminator, or maybe Alternate Qwark. Of course our Courtney Gears would side with Alternate Nefarious, since our Nefarious went through character development and isn't as evil anymore.

The Female Lombax being the daughter of an Alternate version of Allister Azimuth is an awesome idea! Maybe the Female Lombax could be trying to defeat this Alternate Dr Nefarious because he killed her Father, or maybe Nefarious kills her Father as the story unfolds, and all she wants is to kill Nefarious, but Ratchet & Clank try to sway her from going down the dark path, stating that isn't what Azimuth would want, and when she says "How would you know what my father would've wanted?" And Ratchet tells her about the Azimuth he knew.

Assuming the Female Lombax is a part of some kind of Resistance against this alternate dimension version of Dr Nefarious, I could see this Resistance being where we see a lot of these old familiar faces. Imagine this Resistance also having previous villains turned good being apart of this Resistance (Alternate Dimension and all that). Imagine the Resistance having characters like Big Al, Skidd McMarx, The Smuggler, The Plumber, Chairman Drek, Mr Fizzwidget, Cronk & Zephyr, Merc & Green, The Galactic Rangers, Ace Hardlight, Reactor, The Mystic, the Commando, the Mathimitician, Pollyx, the Megatron Gadgetbots, the three kids from Gladiator, the Pokitaru Resort Guy, the possibilities are endless! Maybe even some characters are under Dr Nefarious's rule, maybe Dallas & Juanita, Helga & the Valkyries, Gleeman Vox, the Eviscerator, Victor von Ion etc. Plus this being the alternate dimension, what if Allister Azimuth was this Female Lombax's father? Maybe Dr Nefarious killed him or will end up killing him, and maybe that leads to her wanting revenge on Dr Nefarious, maybe to the point of wanting Nefarious dead. This is all just wishful thinking and such, most likely none of this will come to fruition.

3 Characters I would love to see again: 1. Sigmund. How's he doing as the Great Clock's new caretaker? Is he still in contact with Clank to some degree? Will he be involved with Rift Apart in anyway after having been absent from the series since his debut? He's a pretty fun character and his dynamic with Clank was really endearing, I would love to see him return. 2. LAWREEEENCE. For a background character that gets very little fanfare, dang, I sure do miss this guy. And we really have no clue about his backstory. How did he start working for Nefarious? Why is he complicit in all the zany schemes his evil overlord creates? What happened to his rock band career? 3. Aphelion... Hoo... Okay they had her as an actual character for one scene and then every other minute with her, she's just a very boring AI drone. Why? Why make her have a personality and give her emotional depth for, like, a minute, only to strip it away in every other appearance? Who was her previous pilot? Why didn't she help Ratchet and Clank during other pivotal fights since she's clearly capable of self-flight and aerial combat?

1. Thugs -4-Less Leader: I'm pretty certain that this guy will return in some shape or form due to the presence of Goons-4-Less. In my opinion, the Leader is one of the funniest characters in the whole series and often overlooked when people talk about RaC villains. If they do bring him back, which I'm pretty sure they will, then I hope he remains dumb and goofy, but also still a ruthless cutthroat. "Achoo!" "What was that?" " Meow" "Awww... hey wait a minute!" 2. Courtney Gears: I don't know why I didn't think of this until this video. She absolutely, 110%, needs to return. It would put such a stupid grin on my face to see another robot supremacist music video. There's just so much satire potential with Courtney Gears that it would be a crime to not bring her back. 3. Slim Cognito: And I mean the original Slim, not the Shady Salesman who went by the same name in the reboot (damn that was confusing). I know this is a weird one but there's just something I've always loved about this character; the fact he's just a pair of eyes, his sleazy accent, and the fact that you could just bump into him anywhere. I also never quite got that one joke until just a couple of years ago. "Put it in the slot." *scratches head* "The weapon you want modified, put it in the slot." "Ohhh, you sell weapon modifications!"

1) Lawerence is a must. Can’t have multiple Nefarious without at least one Lawerence. 2) Captain Slag and Rusty Pete. Even as background/side characters. 3) Orvus. Just want to know what happened to the guy. Sasha, Dallas and Juanita, The Plumber, Helga, Skidd McMarx, all of them are good choices. I want Cronk and Zephyr to rise from the dead (They are ghost robots after all and we have seen robot zombies). João Pedro Well I just re-read the comics, at least the part where Talwyn and Sasha were in there. Yes, I can totally see Ratchet and Talwyn having a relationship. It’s sweet. Maybe I’ll open up my heart a little to the possibility of Talwyn being his girlfriend. But at the same time, Talwyn has had her day in the limelight. Time for the next Ratchet Girl to shine for a new generation. Romance has never been the focus or even a plot point for the Ratchet and Clank series, anyway. I mean, it’s not anything compared to Sly and Carmelita. Those two were made for each other. It would have helped if there was more flirtatious banter. But that could easily come off as cringe if not careful.

I just want the return of the Solona and Bolgon Galaxy. I just feel like the Polaris Galaxy has overstayed it's welcome after A Crack in Time (especially since the reboot ripped a good bit of it's assets making it feel less like the Solona). I want Slim Cognito to return and give me all the old guns. And the Deadlock Alpha and maybe the Omega mods to return instead of the stupid gun tree from ToD (you got creative with the Alpha mods and had to buy some of the more better mods, would make Raritanium not be a useless currency in the long run of a game).

Character List: 1) I am absolutely begging for a return of the ACTUAL (not the reboot) galactic ranger robots. I think they would have to be our version since they would have lost the war in the new Nefarious' dimension. They're one of my absolute favorite things in the entire series and I was scared they were scrapped in 2016. 2) Sasha I think you covered well enough. Cool to know she was in the comics since I never read them so that gives me hope it could happen. I also wonder if we saw an alternate Sasha that she might be a robot version due to the success of the biobliterator. 3) I'd love to see Slim Cognito play a part in this game as well. I don't really know whether he would be this dimension or alternate, but I always liked his appearances and references throughout the series.

I hope to see the original Talwyn have a big role in Rift Apart as besides her being underutilized, it would be nice to get a moment that clearly shows that Ratchet and Talwyn are a couple cause some fans still aren't getting that fact. An alternate Lawrence would be cool as instead of being a butler, he could be a warbot that could also count as a boss. In fact maybe his name is really an acronym for something like Large Armed Weaponized Robot who Eradicates Nefarious's Crummy Enemies. THAT would be awesome. An alternate Azimuth would be nice to see. He could be alive because he never tried to find the Great Clock. Not only would it be great to see him again (kinda) but this could give us a scene where Ratchet gets closure on what happened to his Azimuth.

All great choices. Talwyn and Sasha should definitely make a reappearance as key characters. Given their roles in the games' universe, it wouldn't make sense to leave them out. I would also want them to find out what happened to Talwyn's dad, perhaps with an Angela return mixed in? I can take or leave Helga tbh. We all know Qwark is going to be there screwing something up and the Plumber is probably going to show up as cameo like he has been for the past few games. Other characters I would like to see are Vendra and Neftin. Given their dabbling in dimension hopping, their expertise could come in handy. Alternate versions of Kaden and Alister, but maybe I'm asking for too much. A lot of people are going to hate me for this, but I don't want Captain Slag and Rusty Pete to come back. They're annoying if they're overplayed and I feel like they would be if they get put in the game. But it's possible they'll make a reappearance given the pirate dimension we saw in the trailer.

Assuming that easter egg confirms Dallas and Juanita for the game, my top three picks would be.... 1. Courtney Gears: Having a pop star as a boss fight just made her an unforgettable character for me. 2. Klunk: The end of Secret Agent Clank did hint that he would someday return for revenge. Since he seems to hate his creator/father Dr. Nefarious, I can see him leading a third faction against both Ratchet and Nefarious. 3. Percival Tachyon: I'm still holding out hope that Nefarious is uniting a team of Ratchet and Clank's greatest enemies.

A part of me wonders if any AU characters will actually be robotic and Nefarious supporters. After all UYA Nefarious did want to wipe out organics but he also started turning them when he could. Could AU Nefarious have gone through a similar means? We did get a slight hint of with Skid in UYA when he's turned robotic, still himself but obviously changed to what Nefarious would prefer. Hmm,... three characters to be returned in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart that I really want to see are... a cowardly galactic superhero: Captain Qwark,.... the captain of Polaris Defense Force and Ratchet's girlfriend: Talwyn Apogee,... and the Plumber; which is the Plumber's back. 🙂 Heheheh. I like to say the classic words when I said "the Plumber's back". LOL 😄 And speaking of characters, I still want to know who this female Lombax is, and especially the story information about Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart when that this new story of this new game of Ratchet & Clank will take place after the event of Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus the fourth and final installment game of Ratchet & Clank Future saga. I couldn't help it myself because I have so many questions; I mean, a LOT of questions about this female Lombax and the story of Rift Apart. 🙂 But I still can't wait for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart on PS5 when it'll be coming out soon when the release date will be revealed soon after PlayStation 5 will be launched by this Thursday!! I always assumed Lombax years were similar in comparison to dog years, but the other way around. So where Dogs mature faster than humans, I assumed Lombaxes matured somewhat slower than humans, so they'd live longer. Kind of like the Vulcans from Star Trek.

1. Talwyn Apogee DEFINITELY needs more focus in terms of both gameplay and story. Especially to send an important message to certain "fans" that crap on her just justify shipping Ratchet with new girl they made Rule34 of LONG before anyone knew her name. Craft a story around the relationship they form during her search of her father while amplifying the combat companion mechanic they had for her from Quest for Booty. 2. Cronk and Zephyr, seriously can someone explain how this ghost robot thing works? Like can they interact with Ratchet, Clank, and Talwyn in anyway or do they exist in their own realm of existence? 3. Angela Cross: Enough with the dang references Insomniac it's time for this character to make a REAL AND IMPACTFUL return and this time become become a regular of the series with her own journey. Heck give Angela her own spin off game just to make up for lost time with a proto pet as her companion just as Clank is to Ratchet. Also some true confirmation as to her connection to the lombax race, I theorize she a hybrid between a lombax and something else, hence explaining why she has no tail. 4. Sasha Phyronix: How is she fairing with being both mayor and leader of the Galactic Rangers, this character probably might need her own spin off game as well with a focus on what kind of threat the Galactic Rangers deal with when Ratchet isn't around. Come on if Metroid can do a spin off game on the Galactic Federation why can't the Ratchet and Clank do one for it's in game factions. Also crazy spit balling here but maybe get her a new boyfriend through a clone of Ratchet story. 5. Helga Von Streissenburgen: Definitely should come back here own training side missions to boost Ratchet's (or whoever we play as) capabilities, as well a more in depth look at her valkyrie background, possibly through a sub story involving her and Ratchet doing a mission that involves said Valkyrie species in someway. 6. Juanita and Dallas: I would like to have them work like the news team Media Break in Robocop, where they give some quick lore and world building dumps here and there while retaining their comedic humor. Maybe give some sort of "previously on" recap cutscene between gaming sessions.
