Playing casually I actually quite enjoyed this game. Combat and movement mechanics felt really good, and the game looked really nice. Granted I didn’t pay attention to the story and the clank sections were torture and I never used the groovitron because it felt too cheesy. But overall I had a fun experience jumping around and shooting up shit seamlessly.

Doomers thinking Rift Apart is gonna be just like this are really showing their ignorance about the shitload of 3rd party interference this movie/game went through that was disliked by Insomniac themselves. Just look up the shitshow of development these went through with Insomniacs own influences discarded, like the movies script itself. The game was clearly a slapped together phone in they were mandated to tie in with the movie. They've distanced themselves pretty hard from these with the excuse that these are the vague events of the 1st game retold by Qwark and he's not a good narrator and makes up a bunch of dumb shit that never happened. Also 2010 to 2018 was a pretty rough period for Insomniac because they wanted to be independent and kept spreading their talent too thinnly by trying to make their own IPs. After multiple failures they had a huge hit with spider-man PS4 and sold themselves to Sony. Sony have been trying to buy them since the ps1 days but I guess they realised they have only really had sucess when partnered with them and just said fuck it lol. Now that Sony own them their game development should be more focused on Spider-man and RaC now since Sony considers them both to be important IPs to them, which I'm all for and they won't waste their time with a bunch of terrible to mediocre games just for the sake of expanding and creating their own IPs, like Fuse, sunset overdrive or the tons of other smaller games they made around this time.

That makes me hopeful. I haven't played this game, but I've seen that Gamingbritshow video comparing this to the orignal and had no desire to touch it afterwards. It did look like a cheap remake and did not deserve any of the praise it got considering it was a remake of a far superior game. Surprised at how much of the review scores for this game were boosted by its pretty graphics when it did not run at 60fps on the ps4 model it was released for (before ps4 pro). I am still sad that the games won't have the style the first game had in regards to combat design. I felt like there was some thought to its design compared to the 'shoot-sidestrafe-jump' style of RAC 2 and 3. There was a real level of polish to the first game that has never really quite been met since.

I think it's a fine game if it's your first time playing Ratchet and Clank. It does show flaws, but it's not offensivly bad as people make it out to be... If anything, i have just three things that annoy me in the game: 1. If a weapon has a lock-on, it loses it's targeting when an enemy flinches from a shot, almost like the game can't lock-on when an enemy is in a forced animation. 2. The characters sometimes look and act like sock puppets in a few of the closeup cutscenes, it's mostly Ratchet, and it looks like he isn't even looking at the person he's talking too. 3. Finally, if you watched the movie that came at the same time, it actually makes the story more confusing than anything else, since the plot and character motivations are slightly different between the game and the movie, but some of the CG cutscenes are shared between the two, so no matter which one you start with, it always feels like some of the important story is missing, especially if you watched the movie first! So just play the game and forget the movie existed if you want the best experience... Other than that, i actually think the original had a lot more problems... I hated the snark plot when Ratchet and Clank have a falling out. It lasted entirely too long, and it makes no sense for Ratchet to go along with Clanks "blackmail" for so long... I also hated how the game hides literal plot devices like the Swingshot, Grind Boots and even Infobots behind paywalls, so if you just bought a new weapon, you might have to grind out a few thousand bolts to even be able to progress in the story! I also hated how a third person shooting game had no real straffing mechanic! Even though i love the original to death, as it was one of only 6 games i owned for the PS2, and one of only 3 with an actual story, i have the same feelings i had with Mass Effect 1, where it definitly layed the groundwork for a solid series of games, but pretending that it was perfect is just flat out wrong in my opinion...

Everyone memes on the pixelizer but it's like genuinely one of the strongest weapons in the game. Sure saved my skin more than a few times especially in the brain collection planets, melts the telepathapus just shove the barrel down their throats. Also they have the funniest animation when you shoot them with a sniper from afar before they noticed you and just slowly turn towards you like "u fokin wot"

I think it's so funny that the Pixelizer is so strong in this game. It has a high fire rate and it deals insane damage, even at level 1. It also has 42 fucking ammo when fully upgraded

the Pixelizer was the very first weapon I maxxed out, not even an hour after I first got it. hell, I'd even go as far to say that I maxxed it out after only 30-40 minutes of having the weapon, and it absolutely SHREDDED telepathopuses on hard mode! even without most of the ammo upgrades, it can destroy one of them without needing more ammo, even if you attack one without a full ammo reserve. I guess my opinion of the weapon is helped by the fact that one of my favorite weapons in Up Your Arsenal was the Blitz Gun, too. shotguns are usually my go-to gun in games because I always have this weird habit of always trying to get within mid-range of my enemies during firefights unless I deliberately decide to snipe (which I'm terrible at).

But yeah the pixelizer is underrated, definitely no up your arsenal shock canon v5 level of power, but surprisingly good damage for the time it's available I just hope we're done with the warmonger if there's another game, I get it it's strong but holy, give us something new..

I was moreso referring to my lack of skill regarding video game snipers as a whole, but I still find the modern R&C plasma rifle to be pretty useful at intitiating fights with a huge burst of damage on extremely dangerous targets. 2. this is probably because I didn't fully level it, but I found the Shock Blaster to fall off near endgame. maybe when I replay it someday, I'll make sure to upgrade it to the Shock Cannon (also, I swear it was Up Your Arsenal that called it the Blitz Gun and not Going Commando. maybe I confused the two because, according to the wiki, the multiplayer mode in UOA calls it the Blitz Gun anyway?) 3. I definitely agree with the Warmonger sentiment, it just feels way too vanilla. if we're gonna keep it, at least give it a function that sets it apart from a normal-ass rocket launcher. maybe *because* it's a normal rocket launcher, the rockets could be constructed within the gun (since said rockets are relly simple to construct compared to the insanity that is the other ammo types), allowing for infinite ammo at the cost of a very small ammo pool and having to wait for each missle to regenerate.

This game could have been incredible if they literally just copied the first game while adding the graphic fidelity and additional weapons and upgrade system to the weapons already existing in the first game. Basically, the graphic fidelity they brought here, make it one to one with the original, all story beats, weapons, gadgets planets etc with maybe a new planet/plot point or two. Add some of those new weapons they added to this game so you'd get all old weapons including the walloper visibomb etc being upgradable with the new ones they introduce. And you would have yourself a fire storm of a good game!

Rac ps4 is A tier when it comes to fun and gun play with a D tier story and feel. They could've made this an A tier game easy if they kept the same story and toned down the graphics to make it 60 fps. Also turn off that nauseating motion blur. I'd put this game above all 4 one and most of the future series tho, but that's just my opinion.

I don't blame Insomniac for struggling with this game, considering they were being fed contradictory info about the screenplay every other day, and said screenplay was being botched by executive meddling. Moreover, this is arguably the most important game in the series since the original, since it proved Ratchet was still a viable, blockbuster franchise. I don't think "Rift Apart" and the series that's surely to follow would be on the table without this remake. Insomniac would probably be making Spider-Man games exclusively.

No comments on this guys skills, he’s just not my favorite, and this is not my favorite ratchet and clank game. What a fun way to spend a Sunday night watching both in combination.

Well if you compare it to first and second trilogy you will understand why rac fanbase hate this game. I think it is reasonable to not like this game. And i think he weren't serious to give this ranking.

The way I feel about this game is pretty much the same as Zelda Skyward Sword : Good game in a vacuum, but disappointing if you compare it to what came before it.
