Not really fair to say that these cars sounds bad when a downpipe gets paired with a stock resonator or resonator delete, I have a downpipe with a Billy Boat cat-back and it sounds similar to that switch-path, a resonator is what helps eliminate unwanted frequencies, mufflers will help to quiet the vehicle, unfortunately the AWD cars doesn’t have room for a bottle Vibrant, so a cat-back with a good resonator will be the way to go.

Well executed and comprehensive video. Appreciate the context, your experience and the sound samples. I’m on a similar path on my A3 Quattro but made some different decisions. I’d even argue the order of mods could be different. First, imo the intake is for sound and looks only in extreme power situations since the OEM air box has been shown to flow sufficiently at least for stock turbo- so unless turbo upgrade- which I see you’re considering, intake wasn’t worth it imo. In place of intake I would suggest Cobb tuner first. Next, the CTS TIP, not sure on your experience but mine fit way loose. It leaked oil and I think caused other issues. I switched to Mishimoto TIP and that fit like a glove and quality was better. 3rd, you forgot the intercooler. That is hugely important given the heat the turbo generates and how hot and humid Jersey can get. I got Mishimoto but there are other options and myMK7 website has all the flow rating and heat soak performance of most available intercoolers. For the exhaust I’m leaning towards your recommendations. Keep stock back box, delete resonator - in progress, and add down pipe. Not sure on CTS but there are better options like cast catted IE version. It’s important to keep resonance down and ensure good fitment. Of course cost is a consideration. Finally suspension, that’s been a bit of a headache at times but I chose OEM sport springs with koni yellow or bilstein b6/b8. Maybe I’ll later regret not just doing coilovers in the beginning but upgraded shocks plus springs is a viable option. Sway bar should also be part of this. Don’t know how you ride that low in Jersey, I avoided coils and too low tide height exactly because of poor roads. Anyways just my thoughts, no shade intended, car looks and sounds sick. Much respect. Maybe I’ll run into you one day…

I have a 2019 A3 and as we all know the power is lacking. I’d like to eventually do a stage 1 tune just for a little extra pep. For now I’m going to start with the exhaust. What do you think about just upgrading mufflers? Is a full cat back worth it? I’m mostly looking for a deeper purr when it comes to sound. I’m looking at Borla cat back but I don’t want it to sound too loud.
@RatchetWrenches Жыл бұрын
Upgrading you’re catback will give you that sound your looking for. And if you don’t want it to loud, If your car is equipped with valves make sure to get a catback that will utilize those still so you can have it quiet when you want it to be. But a tune also will give you a lot more pep so I highly recommend a tune
@RichsRantMMAofficialchannel Жыл бұрын
@@RatchetWrenches is a cat back necessary for a stage one? Would upgrading mufflers be enough? I heard that adding a car back doesn’t really add gains with stage 1

All depends on your budget for now I'd say. Replacing 2 struts now would be the cheaper and easier route. If you did coil overs now I'd recommend doing them on both front and rear and you'd need to get an alignment done too. If you're looking to do coil overs in the near future now would be a good time since you already would be replacing the front struts
