I've grown up on majors fish and chips. We have relatives abroad who insist on having fish and chips from majors whenever they are in the country! You should also try Pep's plaice in nearby Tettenhall which also does battered chips. It is so popular that i have had to wait 30-40 mins for my food! Love your channel, keep up the good work!

I lived all over the country and can say hand's down the west Midlands have the best fish and chips. Danny you should do a segment on the Desi pubs in the west Midlands as they do some if the best Indian mix grills ever. West Midlands is A step above everyone else in terms of takeaways.

Holy shit I remember watching this guy way back when he was starting and forgot about him. Saw a comment on Reddit as a pass by and wow I’m so glad to see how his channel’s exploded. Really down to earth. Hoping to visit England one day and try some authentic fish and chips. It’s legit somewhat of a dream of mine. I’ve been going to Major’s since I was a baby in a push chair. Then at High School we used to go in there at dinner time. The mushy peas at Major’s are homemade from fresh peas. There’s nothing processed in them or any additives, so that explains the unique, original flavour. As an aside, it’s called Major’s, because the owner’s name is Major Spencer. He’s getting on a bit now and his son, Royston runs the shop for him. Major’s has been there since 1975. The queues at dinner time and the weekend are always outside the door.

I concur. Down to my last dregs of garam masala with no cinnamon in the cupboard my local shop finally got some more ceylon cinnamon in stock. My chilli plant is full of fat ripe chillies, I'm going to get a kilo of diced lamb or chicken thighs and cook me up a huge vat of hot spicy curry.

Remember it opening as a nipper used to stop off weekly passing on way back from school in Walsall. Cant believe trees have grown in the road since last time drove down there, surprised it hasnt killed off one of the best chippies around though it has killed the rest of the town off.

not really, majors keeps it simple so the food is bang on every time not a place that does loads of crap so the food is rotten, any one can own a food establishment but turning out quality food day in day out is a art form

I moved to mickleover 6 years ago from smethwick and I can honestly say I still do the hour and a bit drive once a month on a Saturday to go my local chippy...Its a nice ride out on my bike and a great reward at the end! All my Derby lads tag along
