You should really rethink this build. The front wheels are never going to touch the ground. I would go for a front engine design. Chopping the pipe up isn't necessarily going to just change the power band. If it's is wrong it can burn pistons and all kinds of bad things. You have to build two stroke projects around the pipe, like your mini bike.
@thedude50434 жыл бұрын
This looks great. Scary AF, but great. Its refreshing to see a simpler project. Though with that power.. haha its going to be intense. I'm sure it's going to be a beast. :) Random suggestion but after you were explaining the engine placement and how far forward it would put you, it got me thinking - have you ever thought about building an F1 Cigar style vehicle? I believe you have the expertise to do something like that. And hardly anyone seems to be making that style of car anymore. Could be an awesome project. Look up the 'Eagle Gurney Weslake Mk1 Formula 1 car' to see what I mean. I could imagine a smaller version of one of those with a 2 stroke with individual expansion chambers for maximum power.
@feeterican4 жыл бұрын
I remember seeing those from old pictures when I was a kid. I'm sure he could do it and a whole new realm of drive shafts and diffs and some kind of transmission. It would be a challenge yet to be tackled to make everything small enough to fit inside the shed when building such a vehicle.

Do NOT change the shape or length of the expansion chamber...! It's called a tuned pipe for a reason. it's tuned to that engine. Go ahead and make a new header, but keep the lengths as close to original as possible. BTW, you have no clue, NONE, how much power and torque that engine makes, and well those clutches(on a sled, they're called primary and secondary clutches) put that power down. If you can manage this build and you don't screw up the pipe or clutching, it will be THE most powerful machine you've built to date....! Consider, for a moment, that a stock XLT(that is what you have) weighed over 500lbs wet and could do 1/4 mile times in the low 11 second range with a top speed of 100+ mph. Try turning that track by hand, for an even better understand of the power you have in that little engine... lol

I built a snowmobile engine powered cart years back that would do well over 100 MPH. No kidding! With that HP and weight hanging off the rear the front tires will be in the air most of the time. The engine needs to be in front of the axle. If you want to shorten the wheel base, move the front axle back a bit and extend the frame ahead of the axle for foot controls. Also, no transmission needed. Just run the torque converter set up and watch the chain ratio going to the axle. He should be able to gear it to top out at some ridiculous speed and still have plenty of power low down
@calholli4 жыл бұрын
@@poorub I agree.. I put a 500cc rotax on a cheap chineese 2 seater buggy.. we clocked it at 74mph with a gps app on a phone-- becaue i have it geared a little lower for more acceleration.
