Kanto Raticate Reasons: -It’s the original form -I used one I caught in the burnt mansion from FireRed/LeafGreen to help beat the game, taught via level up Hyper fang (a superior move for Raticate at the time in my opinion) -as bad as it overall was; Ash had one briefly in the St. Ann episode

I was going to say Alolan, because I've just never been that interested in Normal types...most of them just don't interest me. But I guess Kantonian looks a little sleeker and I've realized a soft spot for it I never had. I don't know if I can choose either one of them, really, I keep going back and forth. I never did understand why people got on 4x weaknesses so much (just don't pit your Pokemon against things it's weak to, right?), but with something like Fighting type moves which, as you said, a lot of Pokemon can learn, I think I can understand a little better. Not really enough to just leave your Pokemon out of battles with its weakness if tons of things can have the move. So that makes a little more sense to me now.

Alolan Raticate because I can get same type attack bonus with it's dark type moves and it's normal type not only that it is the better abilities than it's counterpart and it's or has more background to it. I prefer alolan raticate. Pair it up with a ghost like gengar and its fighting type weakness is solved. Alolan raticate is a nice technical fighter with a load of different options from set up to interference and revenge killing to name a few.
