7:24 only Planeswalkers die from zero loyalty As an Artifact, this enters with zero loyalty by default. But because it has a +1 ability, it can gain loyalty counters. To activate a minus ability, you must have enough loyalty counters to pay for it, but the card doesn’t “die” at zero Edit: Found a ruling on it (I assume the same would apply for any non-Planeswalker permanent): “Loyalty abilities can be used by non-planeswalkers. A planeswalker which turns into a creature can still use its loyalty abilities, with the same timing restrictions and the same cost or addition of loyalty counters as usual. It will not go to the graveyard for having 0 loyalty until it becomes a planeswalker again.”
@davidhower7095 Жыл бұрын
The superchat at 14:33 is wrong. Non-planeswalkers with loyalty abilities work perfectly fine. See Sarkhan the Masterless or Luxior, Giada’s Gift. The permanent not being a planeswalker means that it enters the battlefield with no loyalty counters, but because it’s not a planeswalker, it also doesn’t die from having zero loyalty. You still have to pay loyalty costs for those abilities.

Second half of the video: (31:33) Those are nice Mountains. (31:36) Skate to-Gethbare: Word salad, shred. Man, it's once again a shame to have such neat art wasted on a ninged cards. Would've been really cool if this skateboarding Kor Elf Warrior did something sensical and awesome. (33:13) Magmaid Fragment: Super duper OP! Ship for Modern Horizons LXIV then ban! IT DANGER!!! Okay, so on turn 1, I'll play Mountain, Lotus Petal, and Magmaid Fragment. Next, I'll search my library for Atarka, World Render; Karlach, Fury of Avernus; Thrakkus the Butcher; and either Mass Hysteria or Concordant Crossroads, and put those onto the battlfield. Then finally, I'll attack with everyone twice for 118 total damage. GG. (35:08) Extraction: Fair, ship. Not sure what makes it a Class, but it's doable. However, if I wanted to turn land into life gain, I think I'd rather use Zuban Orb instead. At least the flavor is totally on point, and something that benefits from tokens such as Academy Manufactor would probably really like this. (36:20) Neat Swamps. (36:24) Thunder Show: Word salad, shred. Again with the amazing art, but on a card that just doesn't work. A sorcery cannot enter the battlefield, and even if it could, it would help not your life total. Also, the X in the mana cost isn't used for anything. (37:58) Lost Armist: Fair, ship. Totally doable! Nothing weird or dysfunctional about this ramp card at all! It Zibers! (39:53) Saprending Kigs: Word salad, shred. This Homorrib dies immediately upon being summoned. Must've been lemonfected with something nasty. :P (42:01) Whirlphode Trickster: Fair, ship. The static ability is strong, but it takes 8 mana to cast this guy, so it's totally fine, and the loyalty abilities are perfectly doable too. (43:41) Mirror Summoner: OP, ship then ban. Effectively a 5/5 flying dude for 4 mana, which is already a bit strong, and then it has a couple more upsides to it, especially its last ability. At least everything here is doable. It's just _really_ strong. (46:01) There's our Assamblack token. Neat. (46:10) Neat Islands. (46:13) Wingmaric Tender: Likely OP, ship then ban later if needed. Good for Vampire & Frie tribal, but seems quite pushed, being effectively either a 5/5 or a 4/4 with a +1/+1 counter on another creature with no downside right out the gate for just 3 mana. (47:29) Swallower Prowler: Fair, ship. The Fractals it creates will likely die instantly, but you will get card draws out of them. Maybe it's a tad OP, but what do I know? (50:27) Neat Plains. (50:30) Irenime from Offiros: Fair, ship. Banding is back, baby! It Zibers! (51:00) Spikd, Flame-Creater: Fair, ship. Interesting graveyard ability for sure. (52:48) Helm of the Invader: Fair, ship. Looks like the AI had to think "Twice" about this card's subtypes. Also, the bottom ability would be super niche, but otherwise, this is a pretty cool card. Maybe a bit OP, but we've seen far worse already. (54:55) Manacorn Knights: Likely OP, ship then ban later if needed. Interesting guy that really loves having counters put on him. Even -1/-1 counters would be welcomed. Oh, and you get lots of 1/1 Lifelink Insects from noncreature spells. That might be very OP. (56:27) Ju Tapes: Fair, ship. Don't confuse the creature token with Changelings. It's just a Changel creature. Anyway, it's effectively a 1/1 flier with Flash for 2 mana, which might have Artiface synergy. :P (57:25) Alkurin Recovery: Word salad, shred. Gotta investigate why the first player can't play lose lands. :P (57:43) Zurgo Zuo: Underpowered, ship. Might have synergy with Ninjutsu, but the mana cost of this artifact is just way too high. (58:39) Sun-Blade Sun: Fair, ship. The timing restriction is weird, but it's totally doable. Maybe work this into a deck with creatures that put -1/-1 counters on themselves, like Devoted Druid, the Hatchlings from Eventide, and creatures with Persist. (1:00:26) The Fist of the Surge: Fair, maybe underpowered, ship. Mana cost seems a tad high for what it does, but it is doable. (1:01:16) Tyrant's Tile Alla: Fair, word salad, ship. It has Partner, but isn't legendary, so that's kinda useless. And, there's no such thing as a "basic" creature... unless maybe you counted cards like Relentless Rats that allow you to have any number of them in your deck, but those don't actually have the "basic" supertype. (1:02:28) Oops, that's right! It's not even a creature! The power and toughness must be the true "Illusion Of The Fish". So... Word Salad, shred.

First half of this video: (0:00) Assa Lancellor: Fair, tiny bit of word salad, ship. Just remove the comma after "instant" and it would be just perfect. Maybe a tad OP, actually, but honestly, white could use the card draw. This totally Zibers. (1:06) Those are indeed a couple of nice Islands. (1:12) Narset, the Freezed Cobra: OP, ship then ban. Any pinging creature such as good ol' Prodigal Sorcerer will go infinite with this easily. Maybe if it got rid of the haste part, and/or restricted it to combat damage... it would still be broken if it let you copy your opponent's guys whenever they smack you, so limit it to just creatures you control too. (3:48) Purging the Sea: Word salad, shred. I give this card a 4 out of 10. :P (5:04) 4 means death for this card's eligibility. (Along with the superfluous lifelink and the undefined X.) (5:17) Arcane Broodmaster: Likely OP, word salad, shred. Define "it" before I can even consider this. (6:37) Arcriat's Attendant: Word salad, shred. A non-planeswalker artifact with loyalty abilities is technically doable. However, the -9 ability has another undefined X. D'oh. (8:59) Yeah, that is true, so maybe this is fair and can be shipped. Still, I'd reword it to: "Exile any number of cards from the top of your library. You may play them this turn." (9:17) That's a nice Plains. (9:19) Kaph Vastle: Word salad, shred. The reminder text for swampwalk is wrong, it's just a "Legendary - Construct" without being a creature or any other regular card type, and it has no power/toughness. (11:33) Nulls, the Darner: Word salad, shred. It was okay until partway through the block of text. So, this card's chances are now null. Darn. (12:15) That's a comma, not an apostrophe. (12:17) And now, Chaot ensues! :P (12:23) Chaot: Practically unplayable, shred. If those two sentences were swapped, then it would be doable, and in fact OP. But, as it is here, all it'll do is trigger the city's blessing if you have ten or more permanents, and then fail to return any creatures from the graveyard to the battlefield, because it just exiled them all! (14:37) Huh, so non-existent loyalty is not the same as having 0 loyalty counters and being able to activate a + loyalty ability? (14:52) Glossum Sew Assault: OP, word salad, shred. The X in the cost isn't used for anything, we don't need a white Time Walk taking over the meta, and this card's words lost total controlleds controls. (16:09) Riptic Turd: Fair, ship... Wait, it has no card type! It only has a hyphen and a subtyped! Aw, well that stinks for this turd. If it had the card type Creature, it would totally Ziber. (17:14) WAH! You usually restrain yourself from saying that kind of word. I'm surprised you didn't go with something like "bullcrap" instead... (18:19) Obstral Mark: Fair, ship. Finally, a 100% doable card! Great for decks that focus on -Treefolk- Tranfolk tribal too! It Zibers! (20:32) Those are some nice Wastes. (20:36) Jamer, the Silencer Trap: Fair, word salad, shred. I assume the activated ability is referring to each color in the spell you exiled. That ability is actually rather underwhelming, I think. Also, the last two sentences are wonky with when they occur. Remove those, and this would be doable. (22:43) Nimbus Iddid: Underpowered, shred. Well, it technically does something... that isn't really meaningful. So, this like the goggles that do nothing. (24:11) Deadly Titans: Word salad, shred. Man, such cool art wasted on this undefined X that we've seen all too often. Maybe if that X there was a finite reasonable number like 2 or 3, or if there was an X in the mana cost, then this would be doable. (25:52) Fire Strength: Fair, ship. It's doable, though the way its ability works, it would've made sense for it to have the Background subtype. (27:54) Basal Strike: OP, ban before even thinking of shipping it! If it had only the first sentence of text, it would just be a mediocre burn spell, but then that second sentence is where it gets completely bonkers! IT DANGER!!!

If that's the case, if it only has a single +2/+2 (nothing else) counter on it, nothing happens. The moment you adds another counter of a different type (example, one +1/+1 counter or a loyalty counter) on it though, the number of counters on it becomes 2, with 1 of them being that +2/+2. Manacorn then puts another +2/+2 counter on it, and there's three counters on it. I think you get the idea where this is going. I'm not an MTG player, so let me know if I've made a mistake somewhere.

57:07 that’s pretty funny, you came up with a Chadra/angel portmanteau 😂 Pretty sure the AI just took the “ing” off of Changeling though… (Which would have actually been useful)

53:59 Steal opponents creatures with hijack effects, attack with them and exile them at end of combat step, frog is actually a good way of perma removing potent creatures from the opponent's field. Do not underestimate that 3rd ability

For Jamer, if you play omnath, your opponent reveals cards from the top of their deck until they reveal a land card, they would do that a total of 4 times, and then put the 4 land cards on top of their library in a random order, and who knows what we do with the rest of the revealed cards

24:20 since you choose x.. then exile your whole deck.. play all the lands (since this card says that i can) and then cast my winning combo. could be a turn 1 win if i have a lotus petal, a swamp, and this card in my starting hand....

Chaot is actually a really cool card. Because it is a 2 part effect, so you exile all graveyards yours included, then you have the opportunity to put creatures into your graveyard at instant speed before the 2nd trigger. Thats a really fun spell.

you cannot activate instants in between differant phases of a cards effect resolving. once the effect goes on the stack you can respond, when it is resolving no one can do anything until it has finished resolving

3:11 - Not sure you are getting how busted this card is. The damage trigger says NOTHING about it being combat damage. So... cards that "tap: deal 1 damage to target opponent" get spammed. Each token gains haste and can tap to deal 1 damage. And the card says nothing about tokens not being affected. This is a Mono red commander for sure.

4:32 wow… You’re right! I had assumed X would just default to zero (as it does in certain other situations involving X in the mana cost). But it turns out that Rule 107.3f allows us to choose any value for X, if it isn’t defined 😂 However… “double Lifelink” isn’t a thing. Multiple instances are redundant, so you would only heal once (which totally makes this card fair and balanced Kappa)

13:00 If it exiles all graveyards, how can it return creatures from the graveyard to the battlefield? It should say "Return all creatures from your graveyard to the battlefield under your control then exile all graveyards."

Lost armist reminds me of the two land goblin charbelcher decks. If you don't have 3 lands in the deck, you will put your whole deck into play. The challenge then becomes casting it with so few lands.

Purging the sea loses to any -1/-1 effect so maybe it’s fine. (This is of course a joke) To fix Jamer it should exile until you reveal x lands and then you put the lands into play tapped under your control.

Nikachu wasn't understanding that new Narset card correct. That thing was way way OP. Also, Narset's controller makes a token any time any creature (opponents' also) does *any* damage.. I just don't think he realized how busted that was. Also, several potential infinite combos there. Also, maybe I'm out of the loop with rules, but isn't X unspecified just = to zero?
@isthisone Жыл бұрын
If X is unspecified, it may be chosen
@Tletna Жыл бұрын
@@isthisone During casting or activating an ability, that makes sense. Otherwise, that makes zero sense. Also, just saying it doesn't make it true/untrue. Where in the rules would I find that? In the old days, I'd just read the rules, but nowadays I feel like I need to hire a tax attorney to read through MtG rules.

2:20 Fanatical Firebrand, Cunning Sparkmage and Vulshok Sorcerer immediately break Narset. Firebrand + Narset is a 6 mana "I win the game" combo in mono red. That's really danger! Other than that, such a deck would probably consitently win as soon as Narset comes into play.

Jamer, the Silencer Trap would be insane. For each color, that player has to exile until they find a land card. "Put those cards," referred to the lands. The remaining cards stay exiled. So, play spell they exile version of Mind Funeral however you have screwed their next draws to be only lands. That's how I understood the wording. But am probably wrong 😅

Narset would be a two-card combo with any pinger. Pinger pings, makes a copy with haste, the copy pings, makes a copy of the copy, etc. Totally busted.

That manacorn knight is so broken. It synergizes perfect with doubling season. Perfect in a gruul deck. Have season out, the knight, and a green spell that allows you to distribute more than one +1/+1 counters among creatures you control could make him huge and also create six 1/1 flyers with lifelink.
@Kantilvih Жыл бұрын
Narset manages to make a token of itself, which uses its haste to heal. Then next turn, each triggers twice, and you have scute swarm buildup

2:38, Not only do the tokens not go away after they are created, but anytime or creature attacks anything else including other creatures... Only you, the owner of narset gets the copies! In Commander that means that if any player fights anyone else, you just gained an army for no cost! This is beyond broken. 27:33, Fire Strength won't draw your opponents ANY cards, because it's only affecting Commander creatures that you personally own!

A loyalty ability of a permanent can still be activated even if that permanent isn't a planeswalker. But even so, in general, only one loyalty ability of a permanent can be activated in a turn, and only once that turn (C.R. 606.3).606.3. A player may activate a loyalty ability of a permanent they control any time they have priority and the stack is empty during a main phase of their turn, but only if no player has previously activated a loyalty ability of that permanent that turn. The rule says "of a permanent," not "of a planeswalker." You can activate a loyalty ability, even if the permanent in question is not currently a planeswalker. So yes you can add a loyalty counter to any permanent but can only activate that permanent loyalty ability once per turn to either add or subtract loyalty counters from the permanent. only planeswalkers would die from no loyalty. to activate ability you must however remove appropriate amount of loyalty counters...

The Narset is STONE COLD BROKEN. It doesn’t say anything about hitting the opponent or anything like that, even if they’re blocked and deal damage to their blocker. Even if they die, they replace themselves. It’s not printable.

What great start to the video. Suprised you haven't heard of tyranids since the warhammer decks were very popular. Also for reason you thought the creature had to hit face and finally you get the copies. So for example I attack with a 2/2 they block with a 2/2, they trade and you get 2 2/2 creatures.

After watching this, i briefly hopped onto chat GPT (first time too, made an account) and provided it with a quick prompt. Heres what it came up with! Crescendo: Legendary Enchantment Mana Cost: 3W Flavor Text: "It only goes upwards from here." Abilities: At the beginning of your upkeep, you may tap any number of creatures you control. If you do, put a +1/+1 counter on each of those creatures. (Note: This is a custom card and not an official Magic: The Gathering card. It's created for fun and creative purposes.) What do y'all think?

If you do, shuffle your library. Power/Toughness: 3/3 (Note: This is a custom card and not an official Magic: The Gathering card. It's created for fun and creative purposes.)
