I think I had the first FIFA game for the Mega Drive, but I was about 3-4 years old at the time so can't be sure. The games I remember as being classics were the N64 games, particularly Road to World Cup '98 and FIFA '99, and yes, I was upset about them taking out indoor mode. Those games were fantastic, even if in hindsight the N64 controller is maybe one of the worst of all-time. I got back into FIFA with '09 because by then I had an Xbox 360 (maybe the best controller of all-time), and I played the shit out of that game. I then took a year off before getting and playing a ton of '11, but that was really the last FIFA game I put any decent amount of time into. I just couldn't be arsed with buying a new version each year, and I never got into the Ultimate Team stuff or multiplayer or any of that bollocks. I bought '17, played a decent amount of the career/story mode but then dropped it.

Nah I'm a fat fuck, a lot of my favourite songs and artists now are because I discovered them on FIFA soundtracks. Kasabian, Jerk It Out, Rock Mafia, Smallpools, Bliss Out, Sam Sparro - some absolute throwbacks there. I spent many unforgettable childhood summers playing FIFA with my mates in between playing headers and volleys in the garden. Wouldn't change those memories for anything
