Sorry for the lack of videos of late. I'll be back this Sunday with an obnoxiously long camping video 🦩. The world seems a little bit bonkers at the moment so I hope you're all doing good and fighting the good fight! I send you now't but love mate.

A tent is like a car, no matter how naff or ramshackled some of em may be they hold their own character and special memories which you touched on. Top bloke Hazey! Got my Van Go Nevis 200 as a present for my 30th - she's survived all the midges and torrents of rain in some of Scotlands most remote Glens and coastlines, get a buzz every time I set her up, Vestibulers day off - the space for one person and your kit is plenty ample and she sets up quick as a whippet even in horrendous weather. Stick in mate and cheers as always for the great content and taking people's noggins off of all the craziness in the world for another wee while. Top man!

This video reminds me of when I used to sit by the radio with my friends waiting for the top 10 to be played with a tape recorder & record the songs on it as they were being played on the radio. (I know I’m not the only one - surely?) and it used to drive me crazy when the DJ would talk over the finish of the song to tell you the name of the band & song. You’d always miss the ending, but still every week I’d make & collect these cassettes for my stereo or Walkman. 🤣 happy days & much love your way as always Haze 💕

Started camping almost 30 years ago because we were young and poor. £300 20 year old mk 1 Fiesta and a 2 man tent costing about £30 were our summer holidays. It was almost destroyed in a force 10 near Lochinver. One pole broke, fixed with duct tape, but it was too small. Then spent over £200 on a Khyam quick erect which over 25 years later is still my favourite tent. Summer used for camping, winter we take the inner out and it makes a fantastic shelter for rugby festivals when it can be very wet and windy. All the quick erect clips still work, the fabric has faded from purple to a light violet, but it has never let us down. Takes about 30 seconds to erect, less to collapse. Unclip and let go and it folds into itself. It is far better than the 5 person Outwell we thought would be better, it isn't. Takes two to lift the bag, takes ages to put up and drying it after packing wet is a nightmare!

I have to agree hazey memories make a tent. My now ancient Coleman Phad X3 has been all over with me in all weathers. Never let me down and I don't expect it to. Every time I put it up I have a smile on my face remembering our good times together it's like camping with a good friend.

Agree with the memories, I had a 3 man pop up tent for 15 years. Eventually had to get rid, took me 4 attempts before I took it to the tip, I did take the guy lines off and kept the pegs ! Soft! 🙏

I have an earlier version of the Lanshan 2 by 3f UL Gear. Took it to walk part of the Appalachian Trail in 2020. The price, the weight, the space and the ease of erecting this tent were excellent. I then went on to buy a Terra Nova Laser Competition for through-hiking on long-distance footpaths in this country. It did the job but on reflection, I am going to go back to the 3f tent. I like the room as opposed to the "coffin." Having said that, each tent has its pros and cons. As a P.S. I enjoy your videos immensely. Please keep them coming!

Agree completely re. the Lanshan. My other half walked the Scottish National Trail last summer (see Hunt on the Trails if it interests you). I accompanied him for the first hundred miles and our yellow Lanshan was like the third member of the family. Great tent. Great memories.

You should look into Trekkertent tents, similar trekking pole design to the Lanshan 2, but larger and double-walled. Trekkertent also does a lot of custom orders and requests like changing the material used, mesh vs fabric inner or sizes if you email them and ask. They're all hand-made in Britain too, so that's a bonus.

I have this, and it's a good tent. I had a minor fault with the inner. Unfortunately, this let me experience customer services at terra nova. I ended up paying £20 in postage for someone to spend 5 minutes repairing the ripstop material that had started to tear after about 10 uses. It did stand up well in the wind. I paid £163, which is brilliant value, at the time the cloud up 2 was less than £100, having see the cloud up 3. I would probably have gone for the cloud up 2.

This video was way more gripping than i thought it would be. I was glued to the screen with excited anticipation. Even better, the nr. 2 tent on the list turned out the same that my extensive research had led me to, i was already considering buying it. And the nr. 1 was also on my wish list, now i'll probably buy that one too. Only i would choose the MSR Elixir 2 over the Copper Spur, but that's just personal preference. Thanks for another highly entertaining and inspirational video! 👍👍

Like the way you’ve based your favourite tent on experience, cost, performance and memories. Totally agree with the Hilleberg nonesense! Most people will never need a tent of that build quality. Also, the clique of “ I have more so I am more” is nonesense. Like you say, the fells are littered with Hillebergs and disco lights! 😏

It's funny watching the Hilleberg Scarp tent clans .... obviously good tents but I think for most people they are quite extravagant. I tried Lanshan 1 pro n hated the soaking wet 1 layer condensation. In the end I love my Onetigris iron wall and Helm 2....I also rate the Vango F10 helium

My best (fondest feelings for) tent: Saunders Spacepacker. A 1980's tent that weighed only 1.7 kg, 2 doors, 2 vestibules, lasted me 20 odd years. The flysheet blew away & lost on the Pembroke Coast Path -absolutely gutted. Replaced with a Wild Country Zephros 1, which I still use. Latest acquisition: Tarpent Notch Li- after adding more guylines I think it will do (4 tent pegs is not enough in the UK- 1 failure & down it goes).

Thanks for your video. I’ve got a Lanshan 2 (strd double wall), a Lanshan 2 Pro, and a Copper spur 3p. I have only tried the Lanshan 2 pro once but I am already very disappointed due to its head and toe air vents. I froze my knees off because the wind flew in right through the head-end mesh. Poles hight set at 120cm. The following day, I lowered to 110cm and turned the tent round so that it was the vestibule that faced wind. I have never heard any KZbinr reviewing this tent mention this wind issue. Have you ever encountered this? Do you systematically think of wind direction ? Can it not change overnight ? Thanks in advance.

Me and my gf just bought an MSR Freelite 2 2022. The quality is great, the weight (~1kg) is incredible, the price not so much at 470€. Only problem I have with it at the moment is the lack of vents on it. If it's raining heavily you'll have to close it up completely and it does build up a lot of condensation with two people in it in that setting. Woke up to it completely frozen on the inside (and outside) just 5 days ago.

I have the Berghaus Cairngorm 2 tent, which I bought from a camping shop when it was closing and it cost I think less than £60 (brand new (3 years ago and stored it lol). I have not used it yet (other than (last week) setting it up in garden to make sure I know how to set it up). But going to try it in about two weeks time on the peak district, for a wild camp. Got to try it, cause it cost pennies and before I go for another tent got to make some use of it me thinks. Great video as usual Haze! Keep up the good work m8 P.S can you explain to my wife (Doctor), why I do not need to take a toilet tent and potty loo with me.................. I know but when she seriously mentions this............
