It definitely felt like they were afraid to go all out with their storybrooke outfits, Regina and Hook were the only ones who seemed to keep the fairy tale elements to their costumes, Snow's casual outfits I particularly didn't like and i agree Red's style was perfection, her red cape is absolutely beautiful and so detailed!

I always liked Belle's costumes (especially the blue fairy tale dress, the green Camelot dress and the cute pink coat she wore in Season 5) but I think the heels they made her wear in Storybrooke were too high for the actress. I'd sometimes find myself distracted from the plot because it looked like she was having a hard time walking and keeping up with the other characters, and I felt a little bad for her lol Cheers to another great OUAT video!

Special shoutouts to Zelena cuz I’ve never seen so many different green outfits work (I like that she was green and black to counter Regina’s red and black). Also her Wicked Witch outfit is stunning. Also, the Snow Queen surprisingly had quite a few gowns and they all were stunning (normally villains have their one “look” that they wear most of the time, Ingrid was an exception). Also, that one purple snowflake cloak Elsa wore was drop dead gorgeous. Also I like the aesthetic of the Black Fairy, evil crow feather goth leather fairy headdress was such an aesthetic and I think it perfectly stood in opposition to Emma’s comfortable yet stylish badass style

I remember the first time I saw a promotional still of Ruby's fairytale Red Riding Hood outfit. My jaw dropped. She looked so beautiful. Also, shout out to Regina's outfit when she dueled Zelena in Season 3 at the clock tower. That combination of red gloves, heels, power skirt, and black jacket were *chef's kiss*. She also got one of her best zingers in that episode: "If there's one thing our mother taught me, it's to never bring your heart to a witch fight. You would have learned that too *if she hadn't abandoned you*."

I'm so glad someone is finally talking about Once Upon A Time! I always loved Emma's iconic red leather jacket. When I turned 28, I bought myself one to feel like Emma Swan. 😊 My favorite outfits are Emma in the stolen clothes from the time travel episode and Red's fairytale outfit. I actually tried to replicate it for Halloween this year.

What a good point that it should be normal that weights amd body types change and how weird it is that costume departments - who should be the experts - struggle when that happens. I think you made a similar point regarding Allison in PLL. I think you put it really well that the body of the actors is NOT and will never be the problem ❤

I’m convinced the wardrobe department downright had it OUT for Jennifer Morrison in Season 6 because there’s just no way. Her style change from S4/5 to S6 was just so DRASTIC 💀😭

UGH the way they dressed Ginnifer during her pregnancy always made me so angry. Her character had such a sweet style in the earlier seasons! I also agree about her hair in season one. The actress looks good in every version of that style but the softness of the first pixie in season one suited the character best, I think.

Yes!! I was so irritated with the costuming department as the seasons went on and they just kept dressing Ginnifer in more and more frumpy clothing. They had no idea how to a dress a body that was bigger than a size 2 and it showed.

This video is quite a refreshing take when it comes to covering OUAT! Out of all the things that OUAT gets written or covered about, I didn't expect a video covering fashion in detail. Like the fashion gets talked about and it's first and foremost like you said one of the things why OUAT was popular, but I don't really see it being covered in detail as much as this. As much as I love Regina, (like I mentioned in another video haha), and it definitely shows it is where the costume designers had the most fun, I so feel Ruby's civilian outfit choices resemble much more to what I wear and I think that why it resonates more, because it looks the most trendy and wearable lol. i do love Regina's hair getting longer and longer by the seasons, that I kind of hate it when she cut it short back in Season 7. Even though, it does make sense with her new persona in that season and does fit her. I definitely agree with Belle! I think the bad/stale writing they gave her, overshadowed, how great her outfits actually were. I think her outfits spoke more volumes about her and her potential as a character than the actual writing lol.

Snow White was my favourite for clothing at first- for basically all the same reasons you said- it really embodied what the fictitious character Snow White would be in the real world. But once she gained weight by the point she had back to back pregnancies and they did not know how to dress a bigger person. I feel like the costume department said “what do bigger girls wear? Well polo shirts obviously… over a dress? Yeah totally with a cardigan. And a coat. And a hat.” Like it was clothes on top of clothes it’s an irrational level of clothing that Disney channel stylists would say was too much

The only thing i couldnt get over from Regina’s looks were those hair pieces!!! That scene where she is with hansel and gretel and turns her head those are two different colours and that synthetic does NOT blend with her human hair

Emma's first date dress, wedding dress, and coronation/series finale dress were all major flops for me. So so so wrong for her, IMO. Granted, JMo can wear a potato sack and be beautiful, but those key moment dresses were just... not it. But her red dress from S3 finale. Omg. My favorite outfit of the entire series. Hands down. Stunning stunning stunning. Thank you for this fresh OUAT material! I'm LOVING all your Once content!

I discovered your channel yesterday and I really love it, I am currently watching as many videos as I can! I love your analysis on thing and the way you pace your videos. Th only thing I noticed is the lack of pictures, like in this video. I guess it's because of copyright stuffs but because you were talking about so many details in the outfits, I think it would have been easier to follow with visual examples. Reaction on point! One of the dresses that I loved the most was the blue one that Regina wore on 2x07 in the tower scene with Hook (their first meeting). That dress fit her like a glove and the back detail 👌🏻 Also Emma's red gown. She looked so beautiful head to toe.

I think Elsa was one of the worst characters on the show when it came to costume design. I hated how she spent the entire season in that Spirit Halloween dress. It would've been nice if they had given her a Storybrooke wardrobe so we could see how her style would translate to modern streetwear.

Mary Margaret's style was the furthest away from her character: so dull and inispired, like a grandma. these cardigans and peter pan (!) collars were dreadful, and it only got worse after season 3, it was pyjamas all the way

I also really disliked Emma's wedding dress but see it praised on forums and social media often. I thought I was the only one that thought it was way too matronly and out of character!! It does not fit her character at all and 100% agree that the shade of red lipstick was a huge miss. Even after Emma grows and learns to open herself to love and people, she still had a slight edge to her wardrobe. Her wedding dress should have reflected that - either keep the ballgown silouette but replace the chokingly high neck collar for a lower cut neckline/bodice, or keep the high neckline and make the dress silouette a fit and flare that hugs her body. But BOTH? A travesty for her character. Additionally, the hair pulled tightly back and hidden under the veil head piece was awful.

I always assumed Emma’s bridal dress was heavily influenced by princess Kate’s wedding dress because of the lace sleeves and tight fit where they’re just going for direct irl princess reference- and I think that look was referencing Grace Kelly’s wedding dress which would explain Emma’s hairstyle too. But idk I miss Emma’s medium femininity where she liked maybe masculine shapes but feminine colours with her outfits but I feel as the show went on she got washed out

The first date dress was supposed be wrong for Emma! The whole thing was that she was trying to not be who she was because she thought that's what everyone wanted, including her. She was meant to be uncomfortable and out of character.

In terms of best looks. Emma's blue ballgown with the feathers from Charming's dream in season 3. She looked stunning in that. And Snow's white warrior outfit. Costume department did Ginnifer Goodwin such a disservice after she got pregnant. She's gorgeus irl, but they dressed her in frumpy and unflattering outfits, and styled her hair terribly.

I cosplay Emma and the Dark Swan. Honestly, Emma and I are a lot alike and I have a very similar style to her. I loved all her clothing. Much like her, I have a thing for leather jackets and much more comfortable in jeans and boots than a dress or skirt. But the red ball gown and laced Camelot dresses are to die for! As for her "teen" look, those classes are actually Morrison's glasses. The first date dress I think was cute and I didn't care for the wedding dress at first, but it grew on me. Now, the Dark Swan, Morrison chose that look, as well as the wedding dress. For the Dark Swan, Morrison wanted to have a rock and roll look, but the white hair, pale skin, and red lips were supposed to represent the white swan and her mother, Snow White, but the black leather was supposed to represent the black swan, all to symbolize that there was still good in her. The wedding dress was actually a replica of an actual real life princess's dress, and actress, Grace Kelly. The reason why she looked so pale in season 6 is because Morrison was ill. Might be why they didn't really do a lot of makeup on her during that season, not like she even really needed it as she's gorgeous. Also, I think being the dark one and dealing with the finale battle had exhausted and took a lot out of the character, so it didn't help show that with less makeup. A lot of her outfits, even the white cropped sweater in season 4, the dark swan, and many other of her outfits, including the wedding dress and Camelot dress, were very swan like in the designs. I have a replica of the dark swan outfit and I have the sweater I mentioned, and it defiantly gives off swan with the way the jacket and the sweater drape at the bottom. She was partially inspired from The Swan Princess/Swan Lake and The Ugly Duckling. Emma was defiantly the star of the show and main character and ate.

Like is it laziness, incompetence or fatphobia that made them so unable to dress her well? I seriously don't get it. The actress is gorgeous and they did her such a disservice
