0:41 - something that helps with this is to create a folder (or pinterest board, or something similar) of artists' works that you're inspired by and want to take influence from. That way you can keep going back and eyeing over their work any time you want, especially specific pieces that really inspire you. Just remember to include their username so you can always trace the art back to the user. :) I have this going on and every time I wanna experiment, I open the folder and flip through the image and just study them and take note of how I might be able to have that look in my own art.

I come from primarily a background of music and have only really started to draw a lot recently to try and learn character design. A lot of the tips I've seen feel like they have a connection to music. I went through some music theory training through school, I watched youtube videos about theory and I did my music theory homework but when it really comes down to it, the way I learnt how to play, was by putting my hands on the keyboard, without any intention, over and over again, developing a "Sonic vocabulary" is what I think it's called, just by playing randomly, and hearing what plays. I've been getting the same feeling through my own sketching practices, letting my hand jerk to the side a bit when drawing and following that line, and turning my uncertainty into curiosity. Art is so cool, and seeing it align with the things I love in small ways feels so good.
