...but even if they throw poop out of their cage and sneeze-paint your entire wall, you'll still fall in love with every single one of those chaos potatoes.

I used to not want to post clips in my KZbin videos if there was poop on a shelf or in the background. It’s so silly. Rodents poop and pee, a lot 😅

I did SO MUCH research before getting my rats and it is still far harder than I thought it would be. Unforeseen surgery cost me $5k for one of my guys!

I got around the wall thing, it doesn't matter the colour you'll still see it, so fablon on a card board piece and attach it to the wall with pins😅

Thank you for this I just got rats 2-3 weeks ago and it was nothing like getting research I did, I thought about taking them back but I made a commitment and now have to make the best of it, the part that got me the most was people saying they'll go in the same spot every time, they never told me they pee poop and eat in the same hammock! Also having a problem with mine only using the bars of the enclosure to climb, all that money for them not to like it

It will get a little easier once you are in a routine and have figured out a few hacks to make cleaning time quicker. I understand how you feel though, people massively understate how much work rats can be, I hope you come to find it rewarding despite the challenges
@hastings9454Ай бұрын
All animals have their challenges that come with owning them. Imo rats are on the easier side. Biggest struggle is having the time and resources to get them to the vets for the inevitable health issues they will have.

People don’t talk about the wall thing enough! I have little carpets under all my cages (the house is carpeted unfortunately) and I pull the cages away from the wall until the splatter is minimal. Otherwise I’m not only vacuuming every other day, but also cleaning the damn walls constantly. I’m pretty sure I’m painting before I move, and I’m definitely steam cleaning the carpets to avoid having my bond taken. Rats are 10000% times more destructive to my house than my dog is or any cat has been! If I let them they’d chew holes in my baseboards and rip up the carpet. With my dog’s help, they’ve just now eaten a portion of my duvet cover.

Rats All have different personalities . My two were totally different . Beanie enjoyed being picked up and would head straight to the shoulders or he loved the sleeves inside my dressing gown . . But bob didnt like it . . He was social if i sat there with him and enjoyed licking my forehead wheras beanie didnt lick me 🤷♂️ . . . But yes you need to be ok with wiping your feet every single time you wanna put socks on cus nomatter how much you vacuum, there is ALWAYS saw dust and other debris on the floor round ratties homes 😅 . . Bless em . . Oooo and they learn their names like lil doggies 😊 so cute . . . The ONLY bad thing about rats is they steal your heart just like a dog does but expire really quick 😢 . They dont live long ☹

Thanks this is way more realistic than those "rats are so easy and super clean" type of video's I see all over. So clean they pee and poop everywhere and the pee and poop flys out the cage😹

Even better when you realize you're allergic and are torn about continuing vs giving them up so your body will be less inflamed and not aggravate your chronic illness lol.
