Have only watched for 30 seconds….in late 1968, at age 18, while home on leave from my first year in the Marines,I bought a perfect, low mileage 64 Fury….not a Sport Fury. A buddy, 4 houses up the street sold it to me as he was buying a new Vette. He was 19. The Fury was factory stock. It had posi/383/4 speed/ dog dish hubcaps/ manual brakes and steering. Red with black bench seat interior. Perfect. I drove it a few days and had to leave it at home as I had orders for Vietnam. After 13 months in Nam, I came home to Omaha for a fe 30 day leave during which I mounted Hooker fender well headers, glass packs , traction bars and E.T.brand 5 spoke “mags”. Then it was back to Nam for another 6 months and the Fury sat in my dad’s garage. After my second tour was up I came back home for a few days leave .Then I drove the car from Omaha to North Carolina for the last 3 months of my service. In North Carolina, I drag raced it . Modifications while in North Carolina included an electric fuel pump/ Weiand alum. intake/Holly 780 Dual Feed carb/ Lunatti hydraulic camshaft and springs. I guess that horsepower was about 400 at that stage, up from the factory rating of 330. When I came home for the last time , as a civilian now…. Within days I lost my license….charged…rightfully so…..with willful reckless driving. I lost my license for 6 months and did 10 days in jail and had to sell the car cause I couldn’t afford the high risk insurance on a performance car as a single young male. Hindsight tells me I should have told the judge that I was a Marine Sgt., just home from a year and a half in Vietnam and like many Marines in that circumstance ….somewhat tightly wound. But, I didn’t. I sold the car to a couple of farmers from a small town in central Nebraska. They bought it just to drag race with it. I never saw it again.that was 54 years ago. I think of the car daily as one does with any lost love….car or woman. Dave Heitman in Omaha

You’re absolutely right about the locktite, it’s not a permanent weld or anything. If you want a bolt to stay put just put a little dot of red on it and it’ll stay, and it’ll come right out again if you need it to. In extreme cases it may take a little heat but not like a rusted seized bolt or anything.

The best spots in new england to see the eclipse will be a couple hundred miles West of Plymouth Ma. My advice is go to plymouth, see the rock, see how "Meh" it is. Now, get going west on I 90 until you hit I 87 north. Go a hundred miles north, pull into a rest area and wait for the out-of-time darkness to envelop you for three or so minutes.

Both times we've done it (2017 total eclipse & 2023 annular eclipse) the vibe has been great, the "crowds" have been small--just fellow sun-worshippers there to have a good time, no hassle, no BS. Probably gonna make it 3! But we are planning on aiming somewhat south of Plymouth to see the eclipse--where exactly depends entirely on the weather. (The original plan was Maine, then I realized it was in April. Just feels like Maine in April may not have the nice clear skies we need!) After the eclipse, we're going to head for Plymouth (among other places...) I have heard that P. Rock itself is somewhat underwhelming, but this is a required pilgrimage for me!

Peter, owner of Bergman Auto Craft, moved from Long Island to NC. The Valiant "Heavy lifting" prep work for it's run has begun, powertrain is dropped out the bottom. Have a full Bergman kit for the front end, including a Borgeson box that Peter goes through. He is going to stop out and set-up/tune the car when the powertrain is up in the car & everything is connected. For me, being out here in NC, FFi needs me to pay a deposit, get their box, then send my old one back to them. Peter charges $849 for the full Borgeson box conversion- it's a lot more convenient the way Bergman does it, the box is smaller & lighter, and Peter is an actual engineer- so he knows this topic backwards & forwards. Holy crap @ the 1.19.08 mark- 87 octane is like $2.64 here. Non-ethanol premium (93 RON) is $3.76. I am so glad I left Redmond every time I see things like that in Washington State. Crazy. Oh, and Aberdeen looks "Same ol', same ol'"

Bergman is awesome. We do use lots of Firm Feel boxes at Rocket - but they look correct, and that’s important. Yeah… fuel has gotten cheaper but it’s still far over that. It sucks. @DeadDodgeGarage10 ай бұрын
We’ve lifted countless engines with lift plates attached to crappy old aluminum intakes, and have never had a problem. We see people sketched out about that online from time to time, and in my experience the concern far outweighs the reality. On the other hand, we’ve broken two bolts that were holding a chain to an engine… I think we’re both to blame for one each on that. But mine led to Colin getting a bunch of stitches in his finger. His only led to my knee hurting for a couple days - but it was a heavy ass Ford V10 swinging like a pendulum, so it could have been much worse. - Jamie

@deaddodgebrother10 ай бұрын
I highly advise Bergman Auto Craft for the steering box and any related components you need. He's got the no-cut adapter and correct hydraulic adapters to make it a bolt in deal. I do not know if being in Canada will complicate ordering from him, though. He also sells the Hellwig sway bars, which is what I used on this car and bolt in, but they've gone up in price a lot. Hotchkis suspension bars are cheaper nowadays, but do require welding if your car did not come equipped with a sway bar. You can probably find a Hotchkis dealer somewhere in Canada that will ship to you.
