Hello my Friends!
In this new series, I will be condensing some of the concept I talk about at length in my group lessons.
Today's conversation focuses on the creating songs/ compositions that do not sound the same.
There are many methods for changing your root and shiting a composition, but sometimes, simply reversing a phrase can bring us in a different direction.
One of the most powerful pieces of advice I can offer, is to STOP thinking of this instrument as a percussionist.
The a valid way to approach them, these instruments shine when thought of melodically and computationally at the same time.
Don't get trapped in a time signature/ pattern loop :)
If you are interested in private lessons or group classes, be in touch!
I have students from all around the world who are developing their ears and ability to compose music that they and their audiences want to hear! ;)
Enjoy friends and remember

Since i've started playing I've only been playing with my thumbs. I've started using the tip of my index or middle finger and noticed that it play softer and doesn't have quite an audible crack noise and more of a pure note as opposed to when I use my thumbs. I was wondering is this a more preferable way of playing?
@ReWildYourSoul
@ReWildYourSoul 2 жыл бұрын
All depends on your approach and desired sound. If you adjust where you are striking, you can get a clean sound with both thumbs and a slap from pointer/ middle!

I'd live to get a rav vast, but i just can't decide between G pygmy and G minor pentatonic. do you or someone else has an advice?
@ReWildYourSoul
@ReWildYourSoul 2 жыл бұрын
Hey there! Yes I am happy to help. I would go for the G Pygmy, as it has more of a variety of notes and movements than the g penta. Most of the time, pentatonic scales tend to feel a bit stale after a while. G Pygmy is one of my favorites! If you get one, feel free to use my discount code REWILD to save 10% on the Rav website 😉🎶🔑 If you have any other questions, be in touch. 🙏

@@ReWildYourSoul thank you very much for your advice! I thought the g minor pentatonic had a broader spectrum because its highest note is the G4 (pygmy has the F4). But thats just guessing, because im not a musician 😅 isnt the g pygmy pentatonic, too? Or do you mean the scales which have "pentatonic" in their name?
@ReWildYourSoul
@ReWildYourSoul 2 жыл бұрын
@@5u54nn3 it is indeed, just a different iteration of a minor scale. G Pygmy has a better variety of of root notes that allow songs, or improvisations not to sound the same. Check our all my g Pygmy videos and my album Lux Natura for more as well, I also have my Rav Blog on Rav vasts KZbin page, if you wanted to actually overviews or each scale from me there 😉
