One thing I’ve noticed, and loved, is how Raven’s magic is more broadly showcased in cinematics and animation. In the comics she demonstrates more of her empathic abilities, no? Even magicians like Black Alice, who borrowed her powers, channeled more of the empathic side of her powers.

In “Helmet of Fate: Black Alice,” Lori (Alias: Black Alice), who has the power to temporarily borrow the magical powers of magical beings, showcases her abilities by transitioning between the powers of the magicians she has encountered in the past. A little background behind her: When she takes the power of someone, the said magician in question loses their power. But, what’s cool about her is that when she does take the mystical potential of a person, she also takes on the idiosyncratic costumes and characteristics of the target. For example, she’s once taken the abilities of Zatanna, and when she did, she possessed the ability of speaking backwards and zatanna’s Magician outfit, she has also taken on the blue skin and horns of Blue Devil, a more punk-rock-esque version of Doctor fate’s appearance and Wonder Woman’s armor, and much much more. The volume mentioned above takes place in a time where Lori’s soul is able to remember the powers of the magic users she encountered in the past, and rather than steal them, she was able to call them forth, with Raven’s empathic abilities being one of them.
