I find it funny and really like the fact that they twisted this relationship by making it controversial but not due to their gender but to their allegiance (wich, by the way, is way more logical as a controversy than love between two person of the same gender.)

The Izzet do have a working relationship with the Orzhov seen in the gruul card rumbling slum from guildpact the Orzhov use the Izzet for mass eviction by paying them to animate slums into golems and have them literally walk out of the city.

I've been crushing on Ral since his release in Dragon's Maze, so I was excited then disappointed at all this. I was told he was gay which made me excited since he's such a hottie.... then I was told he had a man, so I was disappointed which feels odd since I have no reason to really be upset that a fictional character isn't single

Getting the perspectives of Kruul in the undercity was really interesting, the story about Lasav finding the youngest planeswalker we've ever heard of (a literal baby) and getting permission to raise it, the cleverness of a Boros minitaur uncovering a murder plot, the story of the gruul clans taking back city blocks - they were all great. They did change writers for war of the spark set thougj.

Chandra is still in the speculative as while she had clear romantic interest in Gideon, Nissia hasn't gotten a clear cut stated answer if she shares her interest. Though with Gideon gone if I was a betting man I would bet that Chandra will be revealed to be bi.

It's being made by the Russo brothers. They have said it will be "original content". Which means it most likely will not be telling The Spark War or any previous storylines. Whether it will tie into the future storyline (Archery, etc.) is unclear.

OMG! RAL IS GAY! I did not know that. Wow. i thought Ral was so cute and so hot. Now it is a bit of a shock that he has a boyfriend instead of being single or with girlfriend. There isn't anything wrong with being gay. It is just that it is a big surprize. Ral is my favorite planes walker. He is the leader of my favorite guild. It is cool that his boyfriend is from the Orizhov. It is my favorite guild without my favorite color. My favorite color is blue. In the pictures, I noticed even more connection. Both men hold a sash on thier hands, and wear another sash around thier waists. The sash color is that of the boyfriend's guild. Ral holds a white sash and wears a black sash. The boyfriend holds a red sash and wears a blue sash. That is so subtle, I overlooked it before.

They used to make them for all the major sets if i remember right, but eventually they moved on to Online articles for the story and they went back during War of the Spark (No idea if they are going to stick with the books again or go back to online), but I know one of the books was called "Khanfall"....i think......anyway, their are more than just this one

my question is why bother making it part of the story if it doesn't matter? what did ral being gay add other than pandering to an audience that we don't want. if that facet of the story was entirely removed what does it change? literally nothing. that is my issue with this being gay business. I don't care about the sexuality of characters, I just want them to do cool things, but the moment you make them one thing or another thing I have to make a decision that didn't want to have to make about whether or not I care about the issue. omgidkwh atimdoing I feel the agreement of pandering to an extent, but I can also imagine that from the point of view of someone who is gay, it would be neat to see someone of your own likeliness, you know what I mean? And since it really doesn’t have an effect on the story or on how the characters act(like in most cases in real life) it really shouldn’t matter to everyone really. Like a lot of peoples point of view on equality tends to be “look at me I’m special” or “look at them they are special”, but my version has always just been “I don’t really care equally, no bad thoughts about it, but also no setting them on pedestal thoughts either” 🤷🏻‍♂️ it’s just life so whateves lol

​@@victorperezurbano9504 I am also annoyed by other characters too, except for the ones where there lovelife actually mattered. jace and vraska is fine for instance, because we spent a whole plane on them getting close without interfering with the story (jace got close to vraska naturally, over time, it wasn't oh hey they are together look at that shit.) and then that became an important plot point. (vraska would have NEVER joined against bolas if she and jace weren't a thing.)

As someone in the community it's not really a twist or a political statement for us. We constantly are bombarded with heterosexual representation and almost no LGBT representation. Having characters be LGBT just makes sense, having EVERYONE be straight (because let's face it, straight is still considered the "default setting") feels like deliberate exclusion. It's not a twist. Gay people just by nature come out. It's not political, if anything not including LGBT characters is political. The part that is pandering is the wizards of the coast "no homophobic planes" tweet. Somehow I imagine that Grixis and new phyrexia are hardly hubs of LGBT equality.

Also we have a badly written armageddon setting with many plotholes and in the book where the author should have the chance to flick holes in the plot he writes that one character is in a gay relationship, very important detail.
