Those may be the prettiest waves I've ever seen. Wish we had something like that in 1965 when I was 14 years old at Atlantic Beach, N.C., Iron Steamer Pier, Little Africa, etc.

Iron Steamer is gone now, I was back in NC a few years ago and sad to see it. Ive surfed the old pier and Lombok.. Lombok wins.. lol

Sweet Lord, what a wave! I use to draw waves like this on my folder in high school 😀 didn’t think I’d see it in real life, thanks for da sic footage, some of those barrel rides were insane in da membrane! I would love to paddle into one with my magic 6’4 tokoro and just enjoy that view, getting tube rides never gets old and the view from inside is such a intense adrenaline rush to experience. Man I wanna do a trip here😍🤙🏽🍻

I surfed there in the late 80s the best wave I ever surfed I think. Pedro fixed my board’s and I even saw a guy from grace town WA Wow I loved watching him surf. He all but ripped his ear off hanging by a bit of skin fucked off 2 the doc came back the next day and was back doing what he did best barrel riding.North point local Keith spencer. Went here twice, two different seasons, back in the late 80s. Had to park our car, rented from Bali, at the end of the coastal road and hike round the point. Pablo, Nick, and another guy I forget his name were the only ones camped out right in front of the break both times. Only stayed 3 days each time, pre-surfline, got it good. Best at low tide and once the trade winds kicked in. Max of 6 people out on any of the six days I spent there. Explored other parts of Lombok as well and found other spots that we surfed alone. I preferred Hu'u area on Sumbawa, I preferred a bit more creature comforts. Desert was just too primitive for my liking LOL. So I would usually spend more than a month at Hu'u (Lakey Peak area) during the 5 seasons I went, but spend 2 months total each season (the VISA limit)

What type of bottom forms this wave ? I've only ever surfed sand bottom. Before Hurricane Sandy there was a great sand bar a good way off from the beach. The waves broke well there even at high tide. Also a left hand break. Backside for me.

Lovely video thanks but it drives me crazy watching guys having tunnel vision on getting barreled and just standing waiting for it on the slower sections. If you love that wave make love to it. Hit the lip or do a floater or whatever takes your fancy. Don't just stand there.

I disagree with the title, tho. It is not one of the world's BEST left-hander barrel wave (because it ain't that rewarding, too easy ride !), it is one of the world's EASIEST left-hander barrel wave. Don'tmake me wrong : still a beauty !
