I agree! I lived in Oahu for 8 years ~ moved there in '91 and learned to body board then in 2005 went to Tahiti for 3 weeks and experienced Teaupoo and surfed when it was 6 ft + and that current is insane. I have so much respect for those whom surf when massive! My absolute favorite channel to get lost into feeling what surfing is like. This is my favorite wave 🌊 in the world by far! 🌈🌴

It's always in the back of my mind. You're out taking some nice glassy surf in a epic spot. Everything is perfect and then , suddenly without warning you look outsidand here it comes , a Rouge Wave 30 + ft. Njet skies and no escape . It breaks on you , your held down , finally you come up and there is 5 more rolling in and you get tore up.

Essential to be a strong swimmer because you can not rely on your board for safety. Good to get some instruction in the water from someone with lots of experience so you will gain ocean knowledge and learn proper surf etiquette. Paddling and wave knowledge is maybe not glamorous, but being good at both is incredibly important.
