A good rule of thumb I've always climbed dead pines by is, "If it's got needles and limb structure then I can hand-hold the top."

@richardleduc7823 oh yea, have gaffed out a good few times. And at this company if I have a problem there is a "relief climber" I personally don't think he could both get to me and administer aid, so I do my best to not get injured.
