I have the current demo as well and I am running a dhx2 I was able to fit it by using a Dremel tool and carefully removing just enough material on the HSR to gain the clearance and still be able to adjust the knob as if it were never altered. if you want pictures let me know! Rad set up!

That riding footage was excellent. It looked like a segment from an MTB film, rather than standard youtube video for some reason. Edit: Just saw the pinned comment. Yes that editing / whatever difference in filming was noticible. It's always been quite good on this channel but that was really top notch, you're onto something with that.

4:30 The alloy is heat threaded so if you just would weld it you would compromise the strength of the whole frame significantly. If you want to weld an alloy frame you have to strip it from paint(because the paint can not handle the heat threat meant (so you have done the first step) and than weld it and than heat threat it to get the strength it was designed to have) So all in all the Fantasie of being able to simply weld a damaged metal frame applies only to steel bikes In many cases carbon could be easier to fix
@Blake_Cherubini2 жыл бұрын
Interesting. Hopefully I never have to deal with this scenario but thanks for the info!

I beat the crap out of an alloy Clash frame for several years, cracked it, welded it, and continued to beat the piss out of it with zero issues. Pike Street Bikes in WV specializes in welding broken bikes, I can fully vouch for their work.
@harrie2052 жыл бұрын
@@patrickc2851 most Aluminium Alloys need heat treatment(all used in high end bicycles i know of do). Welding can(and locally will) reverse some of the effects of the heat threatment reducing youre Ultimate tenbsile strength(UTS)(the maximum strength the material can handle in tension before failing). For 6061(i widley used alloy in bike frames this can be around 1/3 of loss in UTS. So welding without heatthreatmant afterwords will weken youre frame(thats a fact) But frames have safety Margins(to handle heavier and more aggressiv riders, tollerate moderate damage and so on....). So it is possible that a welded frame holds up. But it will be not as strong as a non welded one(if its not heat threated after the welding prozess) So yes you can have years of fun with a welded frame but be aware that you have weakend it. after all everybody has to decide for them self considering the ammount of damage, the Stress put in the frame(are you an agressiv and/or Heavy rider) and also how well its been welded(a bad welder could create a larger heat infleunced zone(where the alloy is weakend)as a good one (maybe using heatsinks...(take this with a grain of salt I am an engineer and not a welder)).

Same with a powder coat too? I've heard of bikes folding after being powder coated.
@harrie2052 жыл бұрын
@@elyhim its Possible Powder coating ranges temperature wise in the ballpark of whats necesarry for t6 heattreatment(but way shorter T6 goes on for hours(like 6 hours for example) while powder coating is in the range of 10th of minutes(like 20 minutes).(the heat treatment cycles are optimized and you should not interfer with them(temperature and time wise) if you want the mechanical properties claimed by the alloy manufacturer. Deviations from cycle temperature and times usually result in weakend material(for short dont heat your alloy party after they are heat treated)) so lower temperature powder coating should be prevered powder coating is good if you want a tough protection aggainst the elements. The 7005 and especially 6061 alloys used in welded bike frames a sufficcent corrossion resistand(if not in contact with other metalls.....) that powder coating is not necessary. PS there are some high quality alloy frame builders powder coating(if you want it) like Nicolai for exaple and im pretty sure they wont sell you a weakend frame so it should be possible to powder coat without fucking up the heat treatment. But its also very possible to impaire the heattreatment if not doing it right

Great review! Snowshoe destroyed my alloy rims too, so moved to carbon and I'm a lot happier. Price is steep but justifiable when considering durability any warranty. And usually not a fan of colored hubs, but those actually look really nice. Love the raw aesthetic so a little pop compliments it quite well.

I’m on a 2020 enduro with I9 ENDURO 355 CARBON 24H. I run 30+psi for rolling resistance. I am using 29x2.6 butchers front and rear. Front casing is a softer compound. The only reason I chose to run cushcore was rim protection. But after running it for a while you notice it helps the tire act more like a dead blow hammer. It’s kinda like having a suspension token in your tire.

Hi, if you ever gona try alloy rims again i recomend the newmen e.g30:s. i have had simulor issues the last 10years before trying these 3yers ago. going try 6-10 rims per year before. i have run the same front rim whitout any dents for 3seasons and 1a year on the rear. mainly runing DH in prooper uplift parks on an enudro bike

What offset does this demo use on its front plate?
@sobczakjacob2 жыл бұрын
I have a few pairs of the X3s, including a set of prototype pairs. With full pins installed, it really depends on your shoe and shim setup (if you run any) whether you feel them or not. I'm on FiveTen Hellcat Pros with zero shims and the X1 (4 degree) cleat and I can feel the pins contacting the sole slightly. It's not a huge difference, but it's definitely there and I personally like that feeling. Honestly, not sure what the exact purpose of the plate in the front is but the feeling of clipping in and out feels a bit crisper than the old X2s. Can't really put my finger on it, you'll have to try them to really tell. They also changed the backplate on them slightly so that might be the reason, but I'm not entirely sure. I'd say if you can find them they might be worth it, but for now it looks like the colored options won't be out in the US market until 2023 but a few distributors will get the standard black pairs. Some places in Europe like Switzerland and Italy (which is where I personally got one of the pairs) had the colored models in stock a few months back for whatever reason. If I were to guess, something to do with test markets maybe?

the reason why specialized gravity runs the ex471s and alot of other teams(lots of wc teams run unbranded rims which are the ex471) are cause theyre light af, but they are weak. Theres a vid, not sure the name where loic says they go through 6-8 rims a race weekend. im sure by now u probably broke one. I broke my rear brand new ex471 with cushcore and 28psi on a blue trail by rolling over a tiny rock. edit: just got to the part where u said u broke them with cushcore😂

12 months on…. apparently the narrow rim is because the outside tyre knobs rounds over more, ( say compared to a30mm which provides more square edge tyre), also apparently provides better cornering. I heard this from a number of pro interviews. I don’t think pros grab it for weight, sounds like compliance and cornering
