The raw unedited video of an oak that was certainly and interesting one. For starters there was no central top that I could tie into, or rig out of which made things very interesting and challenging. On top of that the only other place that I could have tied into was out and up on a limb that was VERY awkward to get out onto. All in all it was an interesting day, and took a little bit of doing to get down safe.

This was a crash on the couch with popcorn and cold beverage kind of video! Sad to see this majestic oak go, but it was clearly her time. Great job!

Have you ever done span rigging before? I'm by no means a professional but figure it may of been a nice option at the 1:41:37 mark (second last top). That was a pretty large swing and potentially a lot of dynamic force put on that single rigging/tie-in point. With the span rigging it would of shared the load between those two leads. Just things I've seen over the years and was wondering your opinion. Good job out there, stay safe.

I have, although it's for more recently that I've started doing it, in fact I have a via coming out probably in about 2 weeks where that's how most of the tree is done. By the time I did this tree neither occurred to me to try spanner again, nor did I have an omni to do it with. I know you don't need an omni Block in order to span rig, but that's the one that I am comfortable doing it with because of the swivel.

What are your thoughts on the Zig Zag after using it for so long? Are you happy forever with it? Got your eye on something else you'd like to try? I'm sure as a home-gamer I'd be happy enough climbing like the Rangers do with Prussic knots but the Zig Zag looks really smooth and intuitive to me. IDK, I'm just a former logger who enjoyed rapelling a little too much in basic training.

I'm really happy with the zigzag, I like it when I have to move around and treat a lot, because it's very easy to tend my slack and to tighten up my system so I can sit down and do it easier. Is there something that I have to tie into another tree I'll use my rope Runner with just SRT, but at the moment I'm pretty happy with the zigzag.

You don’t find easier to just climb to top an set up you rigging an your climb Line then just come back down work your way back up. I know you kinda gotta a go up n down but it nice to work of a high tie in point plus you set you rigging up so it swings stuff in the direction that’s best. There alway more than one way to do it but I personally find myself just climbing to the top right away nowadays besides pine or something I just limb out on way up on way to the top

Stream in live one Day ?
@ReallyTallTreeGuy
@ReallyTallTreeGuy 10 ай бұрын
I considered it, although the battery on a GoPro only lasts for about an hour-and-a-half and if I were to be streaming at the same time I imagine that would get cut significantly. However if I am able to figure out a way to do it I think it would definitely be cool to do at least one like that

where are you putting the chainsaw when you climb?
@ReallyTallTreeGuy
@ReallyTallTreeGuy 9 ай бұрын
I have several tool holders around my harness, and specifically for my saw released the top-handle I have one right on my right hip. Additionally I have two of my left side, the forward one being where I typically hold my pulley saver, or my rope if I've already set up all of my ring. The rear one is typically where I will hold the Rope while I'm first going up the tree, and any pulleys and rigging gear that I need. I can do a quick breakdown video of my harness setup if people are interested.

@@ReallyTallTreeGuy also, i noticed you set up your MRS with a micro pulley on a false crotch, is that your preference? what do you think about rings as a friction saver?
