RAW VIDEO: Investigators search the home of Chad Daybell as part of investigation

SALEM - A large group of local and federal law enforcement officers executed a search warrant Friday at the Salem home owned by Chad Daybell and his deceased spouse, Tammy.
The group of law enforcement, including the Rexburg Police Department, Fremont County Sheriff’s Office and the Forensic Unit from the FBI’s Salt Lake City Office, arrived at the home early Friday and stayed until 5 p.m. Marked and unmarked vehicles surrounded the rural property at 202 North 1900 East in Fremont County near Rexburg.
Officers spent time in the home and searched a shed on the property. At one point, they used metal detectors, probes and rakes to go over several portions of the yard.
Fremont County Sheriff Len Humphries told EastIdahoNews.com that law enforcement recently obtained sufficient probable cause to obtain a search warrant for the home. Officers were searching for forensic evidence such as blood or chemicals, which might shed some light on the Daybell case.
“This has been in the works for several days,” Humphries said. “When you are doing an investigation, you have to accumulate evidence, and the process takes time.”
Humphries would not say what the sufficient probable cause was that allowed them to get the warrant but said it is related to both the missing children and suspicious death cases.
“It’s all related,” Humphries said.
FBI spokeswoman Sandra Yi Barker confirmed to EastIdahoNews.com that the FBI is assisting with the case.
“We were contacted by Rexburg Police on Nov. 27,” Barker said. “I won’t get into details but we are offering investigative, forensic and technical assistance in Idaho and Utah. Today, members of our Evidence Response Team are in Rexburg assisting with evidence collection. Our victim specialist has also been made available to the families of Joshua Vallow and Tylee Ryan.”
Police are investigating the disappearance of 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow and 17-year-old Tylee Ryan.
Joshua and Tylee have been missing since September, and their mother, Lori (Vallow) Daybell, and stepfather, Chad Daybell, are refusing to cooperate with police in their attempts to speak with the children to perform a welfare check.
Investigators are also looking into the suspicious death of Tammy Daybell. She was found dead in the Salem home Oct. 19. Authorities initially thought her death was from natural causes but have since deemed her death suspicious and exhumed her remains Dec. 11.
Humphries previously told EastIdahoNews.com investigators are awaiting results from the autopsy and it could take several weeks before the results are released.
Chad and Lori are thought to have been married several weeks after the death of Tammy Daybell. Although both Chad and Lori are people of interest in the missing children case, they have not been charged with any crime.

They should have done a proper investigation right from the start. Tammy was a healthy, young woman, and that should have been enough reaaon to do an autopsy to begin with. Lazy police work in the beginning. They could have had those morons in custody and the children may have been safe. I don't feel good about the children, I pray they are okay, though. If it wasn't for the family of JJ, they would be living a free and happy lofe somewhere. This many deaths, surrounding the same people, is not a coincidence.

I dont claim to know the law, by no means.. but it seems like to me, that if their attorney is speaking to them and making statements on their behalf, he knows where they are.. and they are actively looking for them.. so how is he above the law and able to get away with interfering in an investigation by withholding vital information? Yes, that's why I'm so confused. Why wouldn't you think something is wrong with these individuals. In that case, husband should have been a suspect as in any other death of a spouse as well as Lori and the deaths that surrounded her ex-husband and recent husband who had filed for divorce. No one thought these people were strange. Kids go missing and no one says anything. Wth is wrong with this case, the state has allowed it to go so long that know they are having difficulty with this whole case. They were free to do as they please.

I saw another new article where they said this was more in relation to Tammy’s death rather than the two kids. This was Chad’s house that he lived in with Tammy. Let’s see, Lori’s ex husband is murdered by her brother in July, then he dies as well, then Chad’s ex wife dies under “mysterious” circumstances. What makes you think they're not bright, though? They are following the orders they are given. Things don't happen as fast in real life as they do on TV, movies, etc. I would bet they were just waiting for the evidence to mount so they could finally do a search. We have a very fair justice system that allows for innocence until proven guilty.

Kathryn Barrett Completely agree, but it seems that common sense isn’t fully being applied here. They have more than enough evidence to bring charges. Instead, they are now on the run and every day that ticks by lowers the likelihood that these kids are safe. I think it’s a reasonable expectation for them to make a fact-based decision and bring charges to help protect anyone else who might be in their path (not to mention the kids). What level of facts do you think is necessary before charges are finally filed? Also, your comment about innocent until proven guilty applies for a trial. There is enough evidence here to bring charges and detain. We can discuss the rest later.

Aaron Smith we should not assume that what we see them doing here is ALL they are doing. Very likely there is much going on elsewhere that we cannot see. If you want to keep your freedom than you should not desire that our police rush to judgement based on assumptions and gut feelings. Our system works but it takes time. If evil has taken those children it will not be because of the police. The VAST majority of the law enforcement community are good people who want to help others.

Leona Denson I’ve seen cases where people have buried underground by the house and nobody had a clue, there was an old women that buried 4 bodies underground next to her house and she had neighbours all around her and nobody new for years, people find many ways to hide them but it’s not just about finding bodies they might have buried other evidence which they think know one would think to look there. I know the USA don’t use it and they should because it’s a great piece of technology, we’ve been using it in the U.K. for decades mainly for archeological reasons but the police use it when they do have a case that could have bodies buried.

@@lesmilne I grew up in the area and my family still lives there. They are very choosy on who and when they work a case or charge people because of who they are. There are rapes that I know for a fact happen and they didn't prosecute because the boys family. On one a police officer walked up in the park to the rape happening the boy was 18 and the girl 14 so that is rape due to age and the girl was prosecuted for indecency in a park and nothing happened to the boy. I understand there are a lot of hoops to jump through but they checked on the family and about a month goes by until it reported to the public kids are missing. It's just bad policing for years and this case just shows how bad it is.

Patricia R 10 days before Tammy day Bell died on October 19, she was returning home from the grocery store 10/9/2019 and unloading groceries from her car in the driveway, and she said a man dressed in all black took two shots at her but his gun jammed and then he ran off, she then posted it to Facebook that this weird thing had happened to her and she wanted her neighbors to be aware. They think this man in black was Alex Cox.

This is pretty telling now that it's June 2020 and police went back to find two children's remains on this property. They must have had some Intel to start a search on that property in the winter. Very chilling. Chad must have felt very confident when they found nothing the first time. These officers are very smart. Kudos. May these children rest in peace. I just can't believe chad is only looking at five years for each child found in his property. That's messed up.
