Reliving The War takes an in-depth look at the "Monday Night War", a period of time when WWF Raw went head to head with WCW Nitro for television ratings glory. With Raw on the USA Network and Nitro on TNT, fans had to choose which show they would watch, and both companies put on some great content to keep fans from switching the channel.
On Nitro this week, Ric Flair not only books himself in a match against Hollywood Hogan for Superbrawl IX, he also lets his son wrestle Eric Bischoff; the Bischoff vs David Flair match has to be one of the funniest matches ever put on WCW television. Rey Mysterio shares his opinion on Lex Luger while the Total Package tells Rey he wants to remove his mask, and in the main event we've got a Triple Threat match between Scott Hall, Goldberg and Bam Bam Bigelow.
Raw is War is the go home show before the 1999 Royal Rumble. Stone Cold Steve Austin understands there's a target on his back heading into the rumble match, but he promises throw everyone over the top rope on his road to WrestleMania XV. Chyna takes on Pat Patterson and Gerald Briscoe in a 2-on-1 match, and the main event is a Corporation vs Corporation affair when The Rock battles Kane.

At least they got it right a bit later in the year, when he was the US champion. And the storyline was clearly BLATANT NEPOTISM, and we were supposed to hate him. That was actually well done. (because we WERE angry. haha)

Didnt find any Matches on the database between the two, but this was the first time i watched wrestling in general... i was instantly hooked, a love for a lifetime... the first time watching raw was the debut of Paul Wight. Stayed up all night as a little kid, because in germany wrestling was on TV very late.

It’s shocking that everybody at WCW saw David Flair wrestle in a tag match at Souled Out and thought: “Hell yeah! Let’s book another David Flair match in less than 24 hours… a singles match this time… against a non-wrestler!” At least at Souled Out David was in the ring with three great wrestlers that had a combined 65 or so years of experience. Those 65 years of experience could only do so much with a very green David at Souled Out, but at least that experience was in the ring with him. But now he’s wrestling… Bischoff???

What is amazing to me is as you’re going through this era (December - February 1998-1999) this was when I was in San Diego at the yellow hell just outside the airport (MCRD San Diego). I was trying to so hard to get info on what was happening and finding out that WCW was just this giant sinking ship was so disappointing. I never got to see this era live and only found out about the major things when we were able to get info from home.
