After seeing your KZbin channel, I have decided to send my Nama J2 back and purchase the Omega Effortless instead I had heard of that juicer and I own an omega. Thank you for showing it and the deciding factor for me was the extraction cup you don’t need a brush to scrub food particles out all you do is rinse it out. That was a win-win for me. Also, the Omega has a stronger warranty.

John I've been a customer and viewer since 2012 and though I've taken a break from juicing I'm back and will be looking forward to getting anothe juicer. My Omega 8006 is still going strong but I'll be passing it on to my mom who's dealing with stage 4 cancer. So, obviously I'll be needing a replacement juicer. I refer anyone to your channel when shopping for juicers because your vids are so comprehensive giving real world use cases- even cleaning tips. You were always helpful if I ran into an issue with my juicer and I really appreciate your customer service efforts. Thanks for all you contribute to making us that much healthier.

Bought the Nama2 juicer from your site. It's a good juicer. The major PLUS about this juicer is that it's FAST. You can juice a lot in a short time frame. However, extraction for me, is poor. Carrot pulp still wet. Apple pulp...wet!! Let's not even talk about oranges. I had an Omega (horizontal) juicer before and the extraction was amazing! Pulp was 95% dry. I'm not worried about speed when juicing so I returned my Nama2 and will be buying an upgraded Omega Juicer.....horizontal.

I loved my Omega horizontal one when I bought it. The problem was, it took so long to use that I didn't use it. I think in general, horizontal juicers seem to extract more juice. Personally, I need a faster juicer, one that can take care of itself while I do other things and I don't have to stand there and feed it. I returned my Omega. These batch juicers are time savers, but may not be as good. For me though, I need that extra time. I am hoping that they can somehow in the near future figure out how to make a batch juicer with the horizontal juicer technology. That would be perfect.

@@andreaanonymous5474 I agree! The nama juiced in 60 seconds!!!!! Listen, that was gold! But, I just feel horrible knowing it not extracting all the juice. Both juicers are great but like you stated, you got to buy what works for you. You, it's speed, me, extraction. If the nama remakes their juicer and it's extracts like the omega, I'll buy again. OR if the omega figure out a way to allow you to juice efficiently without compromising extraction, I'm upgrading 😁.

Alan, the video was getting long enough. I showed the parts in this video. In some ways the Omega is easier to clean, but in some ways the Nama. I explain this when I share all the different parts. While the screen/auger on the nama may take more time, the bowl is easier to clean, with the Omega the auger will take less time, but the bowl will take more time. Both machines left pulp in the machine that was unjuiced. I would say the Omega left a tad bit more.

That was a great comparison, thank you. I purchased an Omega Effortless because I could buy it on Amazon and they weren't selling the Nama J2. I had been using a Breville Juice Fountain Elite and while the Breville is a fast juicer, it produced very little waste. The Omega leaves large chunks, at least in my machine. It would have been interesting to see if the Nama left any waste in the machine. At the end of the day, I bet it's six of one and half a dozen of the other. I will stick to my Omega and break out the Breville every now and again.

Thank you for this great comparison and for the helpful coupon code. Although both juicers look great, I chose to buy the Nama due to its reputation for being able to gracefully process celery, wheatgrass and other greens. I don't have room (nor the pocketbook!) for two juicers, so I am willing to go through the extra work of preparing the celery and wheatgrass properly, while still being able to juice multiple veggies, fruits, and greens in the same machine. I put my old auger type juicer to rest by irreversibly clogging the mechanism while juicing ginger. The machine was too old (30 years or so, and had a good productive life!) to be able to get replacement parts. I am looking forward to this new way of juicing!

For those who feel the Nama has a little wetter pulp than other horizontal or twin gear juicers like the Omega or Anjel, you must understand that the whole point of the Nama is the ease of use and time saving with the self feeding design. I currently own the 2 most efficient juicers I the world, the Norwalk Juicer and the Angel juicer, however it takes so long and a lot of effort to juice in both machines. You have to push each piece of produce into the machine one piece at a time. Pushing a carrot into the Angel juicer takes lots of muscle and effort. I just ordered a Nama J2, and since I already own the Norwalk press, if I find the pulp from the Nama wet I will simply press out the extra juice with my Norwalk press.

“and since I already own the Norwalk press, if I find the pulp from the Nama wet I will simply press out the extra juice with my Norwalk press.“ Makes a lot of sense to pair up these two machines. . Plus if you also want to do a shot of some supreme, pristine, green juice, you can just spread a thick layer of fresh-picked organic kale and romaine lettuce (after a rainy night in the garden) in the Norwalk or Pure. . And press away.

@@heliocentric9971 yes. When I juiced carrots and apples in the Nama, when I tried to press the pulp in my Norwalk Juicer I got very little juice out of it not really worth it. Probably only good for high water content produce like cucumbers Tomatoes Etc.

The NAMA J2 seems like the cat's meow or bees' knees of juicing today, with a moderate $500) price tag for suer kitchen appliance for our health. Thanks for a good video comparison. The Hurom is very similar to the NAMAJ2, both being made in the same Korean factory. I got very lucky and bought on eBay an Angel commercial mini juicer and love it. It makes 40% more juice out of the same amount of produce as many juicers. Every time I drink its juice I instantly think of its being like drinking PAINT because the pigments and mineral flavors are so rich from superior extraction. That means more minerals and deepest taste. The household Angels still have all stainless steel contact which is great, plus a slow speed for little oxidation. I have had most juicers: Acme, Miracle, Champion, Breville, Omega, and even a Norwalk press, the predecessor of the PURE juice press which has a few subtle improvements over the Norwalk. I also had a GoodNature Juice It hydraulic press with built-in grinder which made fantastic juices.It had been used in a grocery store setting. Going for the ultimate I hopped up 2 Champion juicers with bigger motors (3/4 and 2hp) and used them as superman grinders before pressing. I also rigged one with a 1/2 hp slower speed motor with a variable speed controller for soft fruits- by themselves without an added step of pressing the pulp, these 3 make fantastic, pigment-mineral rich juices. Champions have an auger with hundreds of tiny teeth which really rip open fibers of produce. ..Too bad they quit making them. They do spin faster- usually 1725 rpm, and my hopped up ones spun at 3450 rpm's for the big 2hp, 1725 rpms for the 3/4 hp and 100-500 rpm's for the variable speed 1/2 hp. All were fun experiments and make super juices with double the pigments and minerals of centrifugal juicers. I created a manual press I used after pre-grinding produce which makes 1 GALLON of juice per stroke, not the 1 PINT made per stroke on a Norwalk or PURE. That diminuitive quantity was my only disappointment with those- they make way too small a quantity of juice for such a complicated 2-step session, albeit high quality. I may market it one day. Talk about 'batch juicing' with juice of the highest order of quality. We'll see. I like the simplicity of the NAMA J2 which edged out the Hurom in John Kohler's Discount Juicers video comparison. Anyway, I tell you all of this because this is an interesting subject: juicers, juice presses and getting the maximum possible nutrition out of produce.

“and bought on eBay an Angel commercial mini juicer and love it. It makes 40% more juice out of the same amount of produce as many juicers.“ Surely not 40% more compared to J2, VSJ, NC900, GSE which are all far under $1000? Also, there are those who believe juicing with the best plastic is better healthwise than juicing with stainless steel. . I haven’t seen any scientific analysis of this question.

In some past comparison vids, I felt you did have some bias with Nama, but this was actually a very thorough, fair, and excellent review. The Omega (also made in the Hurom factory in Korea) is basically like the Hurom H400 and Nama J2 had a baby. I have the Hurom H400 with the 2 piece auger and while I love the minimal pieces, wonderful ease of cleaning the auger, and super quick assembly... it puts way too much pulp in my juice and for that, I'm willing to spend 3-5 more minutes cleaning. The Omega & H400 also have that same super tiny pulp hole, not a fan when doing green juices, because if that gets clogged and pulp isn't flowing, it will back up into the juice. The only additional thing I wish you would have shown was a pulp moisture squeeze test and weighing the pulp totals in the containers, but other than that, this was an excellent review, thank you!

Horizontal Juicers in my mind always juice leafy greens better than verticals, inherent due to the design and the less space between the auger and juicing screen. However, I juice greens all the time in my Nama J2 because its much easier, and does a sufficient job for me. See kzbin.info/www/bejne/rpusgGCdmrSfd7c as I can juice alot more produce faster in the J2 since I dont have to push each item in.

Hi there, I live in Canada and it is very expensive to ship a nama J2. My options are between hurum or omega. Would you recommend the omega effortless batch juicer, the hurum h200, or the hurum h320 (which I think is different in Canada than the states?)?

Nama customer service far surpasses Omega hands down! The customer gets a personal email and communication within a few hours. Always willing to help and customer service is in USA locally...no out of country issues with customer service... I own several Omega juicers and have gotten my issues resolved over time. Omega had better CS in the past but with the number John gives customer to call your issues can be resolved.

I normally love your reviews but i have to disagree about the coloring of the juices, one of the selling points of the slow juicers has always been look how dark and nutrient rich these juices are because they don't have the oxygen content that centrifugal juicers inject into them. Do you remember how bright the juice coming out of the jack lalanne was? I'm not disputing that the omega created more oxygen just that it's a fallacy that the color of the juice is a direct result of that.

Thank you for the demonstration. Are the plastic on both juicers BPA free? Some reviews mentioned that the Nama J2 leaves very wet pulp, which could generate more juice. Also which one cleans easier?
@discountjuicers
@discountjuicers Жыл бұрын
Both Juicers use the same materials - Eastman Tritan and Ultem for the auger/Screen as far as I am aware. These plastics are generally considered free of BPA based on testing I have seen. On easier to clean. It depends on you. Each have their own pros and cons. I consider them a "wash" or take about the same time. From 3-5 minutes, depending on how well you actually "Wash". I do not recommend a quick rinse of parts, as you will get mineral and phytonutrients build up on parts that can reduce their effectiveness over time.

I keep hearing different things about the pulp being wet and not extracting all of the juices. Have you had any experience with either of these machines being better or worse in this department?
@discountjuicers
@discountjuicers Жыл бұрын
Pulp wetness is completely subjective. For one person they will say the pulp is wet, for some dry. I prefer to compare yields, which will show how effective the juicer was compared to another juicer so the person has a measure of effectiveness. Of course, each produce may leave more wet or more dry pulp. For example, leafy greens and celery leave a more dry pulp, and if you use the technique I show in the celery nama j2 video kzbin.info/www/bejne/gmianXiYZqtlfZI (rejuicing the pulp) it gets it even dryer. However if you juice straight cucumbers, the pulp will be more wet in the j2 as well as other slow juicers. Unless you juice cukes with jicama or carrots or another root veggie, and that will help the machine get the softer fruit pulp more dry;. Only the Pure Juicer ($2500) will get the pulp bone dry every single time. See the J2 vs Pure juicer video at kzbin.info/www/bejne/qGqlnpVuat6WhbM

You are free to have any observations you would like to believe, for sure. That being said to me, in the celery juice, it definitely tasted more "bitter/strong" and due to the increased processing time, I believe the darker color is due to more oxidation/enzymatic reactions that IMO lowers phytonutrients.

I have owned both of these machines and returned both of them. I went to having the omega 1000HDS premium to homogenize and then a sana hydraulic press to press the homogenize. This combo makes gerson therapy juice 👀 but has taken over 5 hours for 3 days worth of juice. I think that I am going to re order the Nama J2 because of how much time I save. Yes. THE PULP IS WET. This directly equates to waste of time, energy, resources… in a hungry world. So I will take only the waste of nama J2 and press the remainder. This way you have your quick and easy juice and then the press of the waste will give you gerson therapy quality juice. Another thing might mention is that the nama j2 made way too much foam for me. The omega effortless was worse. It clogged more too. Both clogged though. Nama I would have to take apart and unjam quite often. Going to pro and con my options and reorder everything. I have owned over 10 juicers. I do the research, and I think very carefully before executing. Best tasting juice that isn’t pressed is the sana 727 which is just a premium version of the omegas premium horizontal nc1000hds but it’s vertical so both these take forever. Any other juicers that you think might compare to these, or this combo… please send me a message!

John, how do these juicers compare when juicing items that are wet like citrus, pineapple, cucumber and tomatoes? How do they compare with wheatgrass, kale, spinach etc?
@discountjuicers
@discountjuicers Жыл бұрын
It would depend on the specific item. In the past when I used cucumbers in the H300 (same as Omega effortless) it backed up. In addition, softer fruits are likely to be less effective and have more pulp when juiced in the Screen-less design, in my views, but I would need to further testing.

This is an excellent comparison. I would have liked to see you clean both machines after juicing, to complete the comparison. I literally just unpacked my new Omega batch juicer and was watching this video while washing my produce. I'm concerned about the cleaning difficulty of the Omega, even though they promote it as "easy to clean". After reading the manual, I was tempted to return. The manual explains how you have to clean all the silicone "packing" seal components. When they referred to them as "packing", I thought I was supposed to remove them, but the manual explains that these seals are "consumables" and they recommend replacing them every 6-12 months!! Does the Nama J2 have similar components? I am not sure I made the right choice, but I had a $150 Amazon rewards credit, so I went with the Omega. I use a different juicer (Omega J8006HDC) for celery juice. I could still return the Omega. Help me decide?
@discountjuicers
@discountjuicers Жыл бұрын
Hey Pamela, Honestly, cleaning is a "wash" as the bowl as I explain in this video is a bit more difficult, while the nama j2 screen and wiping blade are more difficult but the bowl is easier. I feel the Omega will show more stains over time due to the design, personally. There are two silicone parts in the J2, the pulp flap and there is a silicone gasket that lines the pulp flap trap door. I am not sure of the official word from Nama, but I would say these are NOT consumable and should last quite a while. You may lose the pulp flap, which can be purchased from nama for $3 should you need one.

They are so similar in cleaning. As I explain when showing all the parts, you are trading off cleaning the screen, for cleaning a two-piece auger and a juicing bowl that is more deep and has more nooks and crannies to clean. It also depends if you are just rinsing them off (which I do not recommend) vs properly washing them with soap and a brush. I estimate both take me about 4 minutes to clean.

Hurom ... manufactures parts for Omega and Nama is the Hurom version for the US Market
@discountjuicers
@discountjuicers Жыл бұрын
That is not entirely correct. The Hurom Factory in Korea produces juicers for many of the TOP brands out there, including Omega, Nama, and Sana here In the USA. While they make the juicers, the companies in the USA are responsible for selling them and are separate companies. Nama is NOT owned by Hurom, they have a business partnership. Hurom USA sells the juicers that Hurom Korea manufactures... That being said, Most Omega Juicers these days are made in China, not in the Hurom factory, with few exceptions, including the Effortless Batch Juicer, VSJ843, NC800, and NC900. Hurom has its own versions of the vertical self-feeding juicer in the USA that are a much different design than the Nama J2. Hurom's models are a screen-less design that is similar to the Omega Effortless Batch Juicer.
