That's cool man! At this day and age, I don't convert reels anymore. There's enough bfs reels to test lol. But once in a while, if I see a spool for an existing reel, I may do it!

Very nice. Abu Garcia is one of the reel that easy to use (hard to birdnest). I just converted my new 2024 tatula 100 with bfs spool from china. It cost me around 20 bucks. It works like a champ

I didn't think non double pinion support reels could be converted. But I see how they got around that problem. Really innovate kit. Good find for people that already have BMX4 and curious about BFS. 2 grams is good enough for most BFS.

Yes! It's basically how other out of the box short shaft spools are, but most of em got a plastic peg instead of metal like this one!

I did the same with my max x , it is a nice finesse reel now can cast down to 3 gr without a problem.

I bought a shallow spool for my Abu Garcia Revo X 4th gen. I was using it for lighter baits on a medium casting rod. It’s the setup that made me want to try BFS. My first BFS reel was the Shimano Curado BFS.

Cool! So how is the difference between the converted reel and the curado?

@@rawrfishing The Curado blows both Revo’s (converted and the X BFS) out of the water. Even with its aluminum (Hagane) body it is lighter than both Revo’s and casts lighter lures accurately. My only, only dislike of the Curado is the drag. It is way to light for my tastes that’s what attracted me to the Revo X BFS. I like fishing 4 to 6 lb mono on the converted Revo, Revo X BFS and Curado BFS and I can use a little more drag fighting Smallies in river current.

Very nice, I have converted a Daiwa CC80 in a similar way w/shallow spool & cheap clicker kit, I use it for larger PE line L/ML rod pitching flipping techniques. I also have a Black Max sitting around collecting dust and after your video I may convert it as well thanks for sharing your thoughts.

@@abelabner sweet. from what i heard, Amo got a more shallower spool for this reel. Lee Pao on the facebook group shared it with me and he said he can throw pretty light! This spool here is a bit deeper, so I can use it as a long cast PE spool :)

There is aftermarket drag clicker for black max too. That installed, you completely convert it into bfs reel😅

That's wild, the Max X was my reel before I sold it for a Daiwa. The black max was better than the Max X but they're very similar

@@rawrfishing The drag system is ROUGH though. I had to open it up and put cal's tan grease to smooth it a bit, even then, the older model (Black Max) was a more solid feeling, quality reel.

It's still good for power fishing! This reel would serve great as a long cast spool too for those who wanted the black max to throw lighter lures in general and with thinner lines!

@@rawrfishing Im perfectly happy with my BMax3 with an upgraded spool and light braid. It’s works great for 1/8 ounce lures up to 3/8. Biggest issues is just finding baits with the right hook

@@rawrfishing the black max 3 I have is probably my favorite reel from an ergonomic Standpoint and has a solid drag. Plus it was reasonably cheap so I could abuse them and not worry about it. Now I cherish my last good one lol. Unless I buy one off eBay later!

Not sure since I am not in the market to change over my Tatula anytime soon. But I would love a large spool bfs reel! Oh wait.. I got my Daiwa silver wolf for that! Plus it's for PE line with fast worm gear and a drag clicker for those who must have it! ;)

The cast test video here is for you to compare to any specific reels you want in my library. But no, as you see... 2g mark is kinda where it starts getting iffy, my last Tsu reel was the genius and I could do 1.5g. But as you can see.. This is certainly better than the abu revo x bfs!

My experience, shafts are less restrictive because it sits on two bearings rather than 3. But that is only true if the bearings are good quality.

@@TBudgetAngler only if they didn't proclaimed it can cast the lightest lure in our boxes and it sports an Ultralight spool lol... I would have accepted it as a power finesse reel/skipping reel. But nope! Sent it back!
