You probably remember Ray Allen's corner three that kept the Heat alive in the 2013 NBA Finals. But there's a whole mini-universe behind this highlight moment, involving Tim Duncan and LeBron James and Patrick Beverley and Boris Diaw and, weirdly, even Milwaukee Buck Ray Allen.

That's the point, the moment in itself was an abrupt moment in history, it was happening for a vv short amount of time. It would be insignificant without the lead-up to it. What makes the moment so iconic and great is the context in which it happened. It's a tough shot, but if Joe Harris makes it in a game against the Magic in February then no one cares. This series is about contextualizing these great moments, showing off what makes people remember them, not showing off the moment itself. Everyone's already seen this shot a million times.

They missed the FT’s and I was like, okay, you just needed one more make to win it, but now they just need to rebound the ball. And then they gave up the first rebound and 3 to LeBron and I was like, okay, it’s getting close. Just don’t give up another rebound. Then the Bosh rebound happened and I screamed. Then I saw Allen sliding back for the 3 and in that instant, I knew it was over.

Some topics you could probably do on rewind 1.Dwight Clark’s catch to win the 1982 NFC championship 2.Muhammad Ali vs George Foreman 3.Miracle on Ice 4.Jesse Owens embarrasses Hitler 5.Rocky Marciano stays undefeated to go 49-0 Like if you want to see one of these happen on rewind!

michael szlag Great = Value Ray's shot was greater as it saved L3-6rons career. W/o that shot, L3-6ron would be L2-7ron. W/o Kyrie's shot and Ray's, L3-6ron could very well be L1-8ron.

Michael’s was the greatest in terms of solidifying the greatest legacy in NBA . But this was the “best” shot in the sense that it was the greatest clutch shooter of the generation making a shot that would have unquestionably cost them the championship if missed. The stakes don’t get any higher than that. Plus this series was way more exciting than either the 1998 or 2016 Finals (besides each of their respective final games), so that helps.
