So she was (profoundly) dissing her cooking ability, implying that even heating up canned soup was difficult for Debra. With an Italian name like "Carmela", how could you miss that? LOL 😉

You clearly haven't watched the whole show, maries side of thier skit about deb comes from deep seated resentment towards her because she has taken away most of her power to smother the fuck out of ray, which she does anyway, any chance she gets. She's never been able to deal with the fact that there is another woman in his life that makes him happy and loves him. 90% of maries criticism on deb is completely uncalled for tbh. Although thier skit was kind of funny though

It's not that Frank and Marie crossed the line between good natured parody and honest-to-God ridicule, they did it seamlessly, as if they tip-toed over the line. Robert relishes the ridicule with manaical laughter. I mean, who laughs like that with eyes open? A really sick puppy, that's who.

I don't think they crossed a line. Ray and Debra even encouraged them to do their own skit, and after they saw it, they were embarrassed. Marie and Frank knew they were toxic as a couple and as individuals and didn't give a crap. Ray and Debra saw themselves as more mature when in reality, they were also dysfunctional.

Honestly, while it was in-character for Frank to be able to laugh at himself, it was extremely out-of-character for Marie to be that good-humored, especially when it's Debra doing the insulting. She'd be the first person to throw out the "disrespect" card in most episodes. That's the nature of sitcoms, of course, but that part always felt weird to me.
