Beautiful !!! One of the songs my grandma used to sing to me when she tucked me in at night. And I believe it. Angel's on guard around me all day, all night. And when I pray to the the Lord about something specific He instructs them what to do. I have witnessed this all my life I Don't worship the angels... just love and appreciate what they do and appreciate their love and how loyal, dedicated and commited they are in serving God.

There was only ONE person who ever walked this earth who was free of sin and that was the lord Jesus Christ himself. We ourselves are at best just sinners saved by grace, if we choose to accept it. It is not our place to judge anybody. In any case, I believe that this music was truly anointed and God gave these two legendary artists their talent, it's only right that they should choose to use it for his glory any time they want. I pray for the 9 souls who just didn't get it 'cause it doesn't get any better than this!

This is the song Ray sang at Sam Cooke's funeral. Those who were there said it was one of the most spellbinding, emotionally devastating gospel performances they ever saw; even Ray remembered it as one of his finest. Tragic that somehow it couldn't have been recorded.

Thank you for sharing that poignant note with those of us who didn't know. I loved Sam Cooke and his music so much, and I still remember the shock and grief I felt upon hearing the terrible, unbelievable, news of his murder the night before. I wish I could have known, during that terrible time afterward, that Ray Charles had sung this wonderfully loving and comforting old song at Sam's funeral.

Ray sang this number solo, on piano, at Sam Cooke's funerel. It's remembered by those there as one of the great moments in soul history; I'd have given a great deal to have heard it. There's a wonderful explanation by Ray - shortly before his own death - for using it in Peter Guralnick's biography of Sam, "Dream Boogie".

While most people who attend church and listen to gospel music defend it as " anointed ". I have seen a lot's " Show Boater's " in church. Not every well sung song is " anointed ". And just because Ray Charles and Andrea Crouch performed this doesn't make it that way. Both of these men are entertainer's as well as church goer's so where do you draw the line? They both use their voices for the purpose of making a living.

Not everyone is the devil either just because they do not like the arrangement. How sure are you that God in Christ loved this song? Are you sure. Oh yeah cause you felt the anointing upon you, and you raised your hands and sang along with it. And Chorused with it. Not every song sung in a Christian setting means that God enjoys it. All during the week you have the home entertainment center on and you sing rap street trash. Then on Sunday and Wednesday you humble yourself to " Amazing Grace .

Christians do one thing at home and another at church. They sing worldly trash at home, and use that same mouth and lips at church to sing Hallelujah and praises to God. Can salt and fresh water come out of the same tap. If you are a sinner, does God except your songs as a sweet savor? Amos Ch.5 v.23 " Take thou away from Me the noise of thy songs: for I will not hear the melody of thy viols". Uh Oh, in some cases God will not hear songs and music. James Smith. I have not heard the scriptures ever say music, or our music is what pleases the Lord. I have heard it say; and it is written, "But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him" (Hebrews 11:6). God looks for our FAITH in His Son Jesus Christ (the Living Word). This is what pleases Him. ...along with a broken and contrite heart He does not despise (Psalm 51:17). So, if the people of God at any time stumble and fall, then turn back to God in repentance and humility, God loves that b/c they know He is their help and strength. And they know HIS STRENGTH is made perfect in their weaknesses (2 Corinthians 12:9). I'm not sure why you have written what you've written; or whom exactly you're upset/angry with. However, we must be merciful to others as God Our Father has been merciful to us through Jesus Christ while we were yet sinners.
