How could one not return, on this sad evening, to this wonderful collection of goals by Ray Kennedy? RIP.

What a fearsome midfield that was in the late 70s. Kennedy, Souness, McDermott and Case. Almost unplayable.

Ive been following liverpool for over 50 years now, and Ray Kennedy would be in my greatest reds 11. Scored some of the most important goals in our clubs history. Wonderful player.

I'm a Manchester United fan and I watched a lot of Ray Kennedy, a majestic player a scorer of great and important goals, not particularly quick. But skillful and hard and an assassin in the penalty box. RIP 🙏🏼 Ray Kennedy, truly great player.

Yeah I get your point if your saying he wouldnt be fast in today's game. 100% As for In 70s and 80s please if you look at his goals where he has been fast enough not to be caught by defenders who APPARENTLY was faster .He had enough speed to do the job I believe even ZIDANE Dalglish Molby wouldn't have been as fast as Kennedy they had football brain to be 2 moves ahead. We know wouldn't have had a lot of speed others had but Bob PAISLEY saw him as a complete player.
@bernardjay3792 жыл бұрын
@@erniescullion8452 as you stated he was quick enough for the game in 70s and 80s, however like Kenny the first 5 yards were in his head. One thing is having pace but knowing when and where to use it is paramount and I think Ray Kennedy would have been OK in today's game because he had a clear picture in his mind of what he wanted to do and how he wanted to do it.

He won a league & cup double with Arsenal, then a league & UEFA cup double, a league & Champions cup double, a League cup and Champions cup double, plus another Champions cup and two more league titles with Liverpool. He was integral to so many of these achievements, and yet almost no one ever thinks of him when considering the all-time greats of English football. Ray was so under-rated, it should be a crime.

What a terrific football player. He is so often in the right place at the right time. And apart from being a magnificent midfielder, he regards scoring goals as part of his job, so celebrating it overmuch doesn't occur to him.

Another fantastic collection. Great to see Ray’s magnificent crashing right-footed half volley on the run against Bristol City at Ashton Gate and, though I could be wrong because it’s a goal I’ve never seen before, the one he scored against Arsenal in the League Cup semi final first leg at Anfield in 1978.

Thanks. You're right about the Arsenal goal. There is a list of the goals in the description, but maybe I ought to have included the competitions.

Great watch - what a player off of both feet. A real hero of mine growing up and I wasn't a Liverpool or Arsenal fan. Some other observations: Muddy pitches, pitch invasions that the commentators don't even comment on and not even the thought of a goal celebration.

Should’ve had over 80 England caps in my opinion the player of the 70s when you look what he achieved and change of position when he arrived at Liverpool he was an absolute rolls-Royce of a footballer
