I heard this song on the radio once. I fell in love with it instantly. Forgetting to write down the name of the song, I soon forgot the name. After hours of searching for the song (knowing it was sung by someone named either ray, rea, or rae) I just found it. Funny enough, I was watching family guy, and Peter was at a Ray Lamontagne concert. Knowing the name sound familiar I looked him up. First search result: Empty, by Ray Lamontange. I clicked on the video, and immediately recognized it as the song I’ve been looking for for years. I’m so happy rn.

She lifts her skirt up to her knees Walks through the garden rows With her bare feet laughing I never learned to count my blessings I choose instead to dwell In my disasters I walk on down the hill Through grass grown tall And brown and still It's hard somehow To let go of my pain On past the busted back Of that old and rusted Cadillac That sinks into this field Collecting rain Will I always feel this way So empty So estranged? And of these cut throat busted sunsets These cold and damp white mornings I have grown weary If through my cracked and dusty Dime store lips I spoke these words out loud Would no one hear me? Lay your blouse across the chair Let fall the flowers From your hair And kiss me With that country mouth So plain Outside the rain is tapping On the leaves To me it sounds like They're applauding us The quiet love We've made Will I always feel this way So empty So estranged? Well I looked my demons in the eyes Lay bare my chest Said do your best To destroy me See I've been to hell and back So many times I must admit You kinda bore me There's a lot of things That can kill a man There's a lot of ways To die Yes, and some already did And walk beside me There's a lot of things I don't understand Why so many people lie It's the hurt I hide that fuels The fire inside me Will I always feel this way So empty So estranged?

This song holds a unique and powerful place for me; it means so much. Every time I listen to it, it feels like a gentle unravelling of all the emotions I rarely let surface. It is a soulful and hauntingly beautiful song that captures the raw, introspective journey of confronting loneliness, regret, and longing. LaMontagne’s raspy, emotive voice gives each line a sense of vulnerability and authenticity, making it easy for listeners to feel connected to the depth of his emotions. Musically, the song is simple but profound, with gentle acoustic guitar strumming that creates a reflective atmosphere. The lyrics poetically explore themes of searching for meaning, grappling with inner emptiness, and yearning for something more, which makes it relatable for anyone who’s felt the weight of life's struggles or experienced emotional isolation.

When when I first heard this song, I didn’t knew that I’m going to always feel this way, 8 years down, I still feel that way. depression baby. I have embraced it. i’m always gonna feel this way. Well, at least as long as I’m alive because I have always felt this way so I kind of don’t even know what it would feel to not feel this way. It sucks man, but it runs in my family. My mother doesn’t like me this way, but it is what it is man I’m tired of this shit.

I felt so empty and lonely as I'm leaving the place where the best thing ever happened to me and knowing the fact we can't be together 🥺. I still miss her to this day, it's been 4 years since we met.. Man, I really love her.. it makes me happier watching her and whenever she's around but sure there are things we can't control 💔 Let it Be! Well, I was listening to this song throughout my journey!!!
