I had the honor of meeting him. This was back when he first joined Korn. Hadn't heard him play yet. He was doing a pre-show introduction of thier new album Korn iii. Phenomenal drummer blew me away with the way he played. At one point he threw a stick right at me. I didn't see it coming but felt it graze the top of my ear. He made a comment about it afterwards. My buddy got the stick. I got an autograph and a handshake. Very down to earth extremely nice and humble. Definitely one of my favorite drummers!!!

this is really cool, these are the exact fills that ray does in his epic outro in army of anyone's "goodbye"- really cool to see ray break them down, especially the 2nd one, because it's totally the luzier signature fill. nobody does it like him. or even sounds like it. most ppl prob know him from korn but army of anyone is one of the best albums you will ever hear, complete musical masterpiece.

We saw Ray a couple of times when he was in Roths band. Great drummer and fun to watch. Way cool when drummers do videos like this. Sharing their knowledge is very helpful. Wish more drummers would do this. Guitar players too. I wish Alex Van Halen would do some of these videos. I think we have seen the last of him. We saw Alex a bunch of times back in the day also. Would have been awesome if Eddie Van Halen had done some guitar videos. Thanks, Ray. I will use all of these tips for sure.

Again, you can lead your fills with whatever limb you are comfortable with. Guys that started out with one kick(and most did) are going to lead with that foot whichever one it is.... left or right. I was surprised to see Ray lead with his left foot also. He's so good, he can probably do it either foot, with a chain wrapped around one ankle.

@robertthompson55682 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure why but I can almost "unconsciously" come up with unique, cool sounding fills when I'm playing a single bass pedal. When I go to a double pedal it's always some multiple of 4 and 2 as singles between my hands and feet??? *(RLRLKKRLRLKKRLKK)* 🤔🥁
@scottawes9212 жыл бұрын
Robert, I'm by no means the level of Ray, but if he or others haven't told you already.....you are not limited to anything as long as it's comfortable. I use triplets all the time with my feet. Two bass drums doesn't mean 2 and 4 and nothing else...
