Ray Price City Lights Live Perfomance 1962
Ray Price City Lights Lyrics
A bright array of city lights as far as I can see
The great white way shines through the night for lonely guys like me
The cabaretes and honky tonks their flashing signs invite
A broken heart to lose itself in the glow of city lights
Lights that say forget her name in a glass of cherry wine
Lights that offer other girls for empty hearts like mine
They paint a pretty picture of a world that's gay and bright
But it's just a mask for loneliness behind those city lights
The world was dark and God made stars to brighten up the night
The God who put the stars above I don't believe made those lights
Oh it's just a place for men to cry when things don't turn out right
Just a place to run away and hide behind those city lights
Lights that say forget her love in a different athmosphere
Lights that lure are nothing but a masquarade for tears
They paint a pretty picture but my arms can't hold them tight
And I just can't say I love you to a street of city lights

It's amazing how the great singers like Ray price could take a country band and bring people into a show without all the lights and fireworks and dancers d theatrics that they have to have today to put on a show

AND if Buddy Emmons, or the other great (Jimmy Day) SG players, were not on Ray's band; he would NOT have been the "star", that he became. For the "NEW" instrumental "Pedal" Steel Guitar; drove many a "Country Show". Not to mention their recordings. Oh indeed yes. It was so great; that the Country Music fans coined it: "That Nashville Sound"! And it is still used today. May Jesus rest those precious Souls. For they are all gone now. How sad, But oh so true. And how I miss them now. Thus, every time, when I see videos (like this video); it brings tears of "nostalgia" in my heart. For there will NEVER be another! AMEN!

It's ok. "Night Life" gave us a chance to hear his blues sound and for Buddy Emmons to introduce a new jazz fusion type intro for it that many steelers aspired to expand their skills by.
