People who are bullied/abused tend to overcompensate by becoming violence. Mike Tyson went through the same thing and openly admitted that even to this day he feels weak and all of his lashing out were attempts to prove to himself that he "wasn't no b*tch". I remember an old coworker and friend of mine who was a badass. Trained in boxing, mma, wrestling, good with knives(...and a damn katanta). But personality wise he was a nerd(which is why we got along) and his "skillset" was sort of a secret as he didn't like attention. He also had really REALLY bad anger issues and an explosive temper. If he felt disrespected, he immediately wanted to throw hands. Eventually he let it slip that he was bullied really bad as a kid and we joked that he overcompensated by becoming the closest thing to irl Batman lol.

Knew a guy who has a similar story. Horrible parental abuse, school was rough too. Trained to be a beast. When he was twenty he would walk the streets at night looking for any reason to get violent. Eventually he started dressing in drag in the hopes he could bash a homophobe

The tragedy of Ray is that he was brought up with violence being the main solution to everything, even his own suffering from violence was solved with violence. It helped him survive into adulthood but once he made it he couldn't leave it in his past, he got involved with a profession that kept using violence. He was able to get a partner and have a kid but his inability to move on ruined his adult life, lost his family and kept him from finding love again. The end of the series is him alone with the violence, the ending implies he almost enjoys it as he smiles before the cut to black where we assume he either kills or seriously hurts the people in the car with him.

The hardest person you'll ever have to beat is yourself. Because he knows all your weak points. He doesn't need to figure out how to get inside your head, he's already there. And what's worse is that sometimes, for some men, he wants to see you fail for no better reason than he honestly believes that it is what you deserve.

@@wolvo5441 The same way people have been getting themselves and their companions killed for millennia, lack of intelligence and forethought. Most violent situations do not just fall out of the sky. They occur as a response to stimuli. When you choose to associate yourself with people having character traits that routinely result in a confrontational encounter, there are going to be consequences. Those consequences may vary from a "go to hell look" to a gun being pulled & instantly shot in the face. Examples of character traits that foster these types of situations, IMO, are self entitlement; self righteousness; hubris; lack of xenophobia. A self entitled person will assert there wants without consideration how their actions or words may affect strangers or that strangers response. The same can be said for a person that is self righteous or has an abundance of hubris. Take our interaction for example. Your lack of civility, abundance of hubris and self entitlement are apparent in your response. You start our interaction with an immediate demand that I justify MY opinion, then you cavalierly state that you are ignorant of the information I used to form my opinion followed with a demand that I present the justification of my opinion so that you feel pampered and justified in your demand while making your comfort paramount. In less than 10 words you have managed to display three character traits that could get yourself killed if you are dealing with a psychopath, along with your companions. The character Ray routinely interacts with dangerous groups and individuals. Given that fact his girlfriends interactions with dangerous people are going to increase the likelihood of Ray finding himself at odds with dangerous people that he had no desire to be at odds with will increase. I am not going to explain why I think his girlfriend has some of the character traits I previously mentioned. IMO some self reflection on your part will give you examples. IMO lack of intelligence is the main reason she would get him killed coupled with the company he keeps. p.s. don't be a basic bitch

@@wolvo5441 The same way people have been getting themselves and their companions killed for millennia, a lack of: intelligence, forethought and self awareness. Your response demands I justify my opinion followed by a cavalier admittance of being ignorant of any of the information that I used to form my opinion followed by another demand that I present the justification of my opinion in a manner that suggests it is owed to you and I make it paramount it's presented in a fashion that pleases you. If this were a real life face to face interaction I wouldn't bother with an explanation when slapping the shit out of you would relay the same information via a more enjoyable communication method. Characteristic traits like the ones you display foster hostile interactions that range from a dirty look or ass whipping up to an involuntary participation into a carbon reduction program. It depends on the person you are pissing off. I do congratulate you for having the ability to communicate your abundance of unlikeable qualities with fewer than 10 words
